Wikipedia:Mass talk post tool

Mass talk post tool is a tool by User:Dcoetzee for Microsoft Windows and Mono under Linux for automatically leaving identical notices on many talk pages. It was created in February 2012. It is written in C# using DotNetWikiBot (included in download) and requires the .NET Framework 2.0 or later (included on any Windows Vista or later PC).

To use: Fill in all the fields. Press "Step" to make a single edit. Verify this edit in your contributions. Then press Run to do the rest. The "delay" dropdowns specify the interval between edits, and the Stop button can be used to stop it at any time. The current release is not multithreaded and will appear to freeze during log-in and edits. Credentials are not saved between sessions.

This tool should be used with caution. Unless the matter is urgent, avoid posting to large numbers of talk pages when you can use an alternative mechanism, such as a Wikiproject talk page, Wikipedia:Village pump, or a suitable geonotice. In some cases it may be worthwhile to post a template, which will allow you to modify the message easily after posting it.

If you encounter any problems or have suggestions for how to make the tool more convenient or efficient, please leave a note at User talk:Dcoetzee.
