- I don't think the licensing information is correct. Not because of the AACS key, but because the ASCII art is essentially identical to the Mooninite art used in the 2007 Boston Mooninite scare. - So let me get this straight – photographs of living persons will generally be regarded as contravening WP:NFCC as a free photograph can always be obtained; photographed of deceased persons will be regarded as contravening the criteria if they possibly originate from a commercial source even though they are of a smaller size and resolution than the original photograph. Thus the only sort of photographs of deceased persons that can be used are those which are either licensed by the copyright owners or were taken while their subjects were still alive and made freely available for use on Wikipedia. Whether the copyright owner is known or not has no bearing on whether use of the image is fair.If necessary, a notice can be placed on the description page of the image requesting for the copyright owner to identify himself or herself, or for other people to supply information about the copyright owner. - I stand corrected – having thought about the matter, I accept that the identity of the copyright owner does have a bearing on whether the use of the image is fair, because the owner may or may potentially derive an income from the use of the image (for instance, if it is a photo agency). However, I don't see any indication in the WP:NFCC that for the use of a person's image to be fair the subject of the image also has to be notable for his or her appearance. If that were the case, then only the use of images of people with distinctive faces (such as actors and models, or people with facial deformities) would be fair. NFCC point 8 merely states that the non-free content must "[contribute] significantly to an article", and the examples given are of images that "identif[y] the subject of an article, or [illustrate] specific, relevant points or sections in the text" (my emphasis). - Copyright violation. A BBC news image. Press photos (not promotional photos) often have a very weak fair use claim, as our use of these images - even at low resolution (see how they're displayed at BBC.com) - infrige on the copyright holder's financial purposes. In addition, the fair use rationale is invalid. The image is not of historical significance - it is a photo describing a historically-significant event. — Rebelguys2 talk 23:54, 12 May 2007 (UTC)
