  • Comment. I've reorganized the image's description page. First of all I removed it from two non-articlespace uses to comply with WP:NFCC#9. Secondly, I've added {{no copyright holder}} as there is none. Thirdly, I added a {{dfu}}: while the last point of the current rationale explains why the image fulfills WP:NFCC#8, it does not explain how the image significantly contributes to each article in which it is used per Wikipedia:Non-free content#Policy, 10c. Delete: I'm the one who reported this image, and those below, as derived from that book. I must admit, however, I was unable to pin them down using Google and that that book is not available to me. My research only produced a few bits and pieces:
* Image:Ososspecies.jpg is similar in style to this illustration by Maurcio Antón, so it can be a scan from El Secreto de los fósiles. Sergiodlarosa is apparently Spanish-speaking, so this assumption sort of makes sense.
* The top part of Image:Casting_carniv.jpg is used on The Rewilding Institute, an organization selling the book by Foreman. Carl Buell made at least one illustration for the Cornell University and/or Nature illustrating the "Rewilding of the Great Plains", so it might be his work.
* Possibly several of the images comes from this 2005 Nature article by Josh Donlan (unavailable to me). Using the sort of un-encyclopaedic Sergiodlarosa have uploaded is perhaps less likely for Nature (what do I know?).
These images are not encyclopaedic anyway, and I find it very hard to believe this contributor has produced them entirely on his own. If he can't confirm these are his own illustrations, I absolutely think they should be deleted.

Already, I even have many other similar illustrations such animals in different positions from the composition and How I can have something like that? because my images have a great set of individual images that in a moment can be until the front or behind. OK, I believe you, and thank you for contributing to Wikipedia. However, I'm not sure you have understood the purpose of the project or the GFDL license.
  1. Wikipedia is an encyclopaedia which means all content is supposed to conform to a certain standard. Normally, on Wikipedia, we don't add our names to our contributions. You are good at making illustrations and probably deserve a lot of attention, but if you don't remove your name from these illustrations someone else will, sooner or later.
  2. You saying you don't want anyone to modify your images. When you uploaded them under GFDL - a free license - you allowed anyone to use your work in whatever context - modified or not. There is a Spanish translation of GFDL at Traducción no oficial de la Licencia de documentación libre de GNU. Please make sure you understand what it means for your contributions.

Hi Sergio, I believe you too, and I apologize if I was too hasty in posting your images here. Thank you for sharing your work with us. But to be fair, you weren't responding to any questions on your talk page. And even if the work is really yours, a lot of times when work is published in a book the copyright then belongs to the publisher; the author doesn't always retain the right to continue to distribute their own work to others (especially if the author was paid for the work)--so it wasn't a question of doubting your creative capacity, necessarily, just copyright.--Margareta 18:03, 14 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
OK, thanks. The subject of copyrights to me becomes somewhat confused at the time of cataloguing it in some of the terms. I only chose of the list the one that seemed to me the best option. I believe that the barrier of the language also has much to do. I understand that it is better than the image does not have text (please point me if I am mistaken). I believe that I do not have much problem with that. I have not shown in any book or magazines my illustrations, and I dont work for any Institution but the wild life is my passion and the Rewilding North America is project is very interesting and hopeful in my opinion. Soon I shipment other images for diferent texts and the update of which already you can see. thank you for its "signallings".   • Keep - The rationale presented at the photo's page already states that it is an irreplaceable photo. Please dedicate your efforts to creating great content, not conducting such disruptive, WP:POINT actions again and again (and again and again, and again). It tends to drive away productive, knowledgeable editors. One of the first rules of a volunteer organization is not to alienate/drive away one's own volunteers, which is what's being done, with great zeal and dedication, and an equal measure of capriciousness.   • Keep it's going to be deleted anyway but here's my opinion. not that this IFD means anything anyway. (1) Important to illustrate the top five as an illustratin of the top five of 2001, for comparision with contestants from other years. Important points shown by the image: four African-Americans for the first time, simple gowns, simple colours etc. Illustrates the pageant year, and not the people. (2) issue with crowning ifds was NFC#2... well the size of this and the fact that it has already been posted on secondary websites scraps that. PageantUpdater 03:28, 13 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please don't remove an IFD tag while the discussion is ongoing. No, I don't know Hebrew, but I do know that this image is just an image of text. One of our non-free content criteria is that the image convey important information that words alone cannot. First of all, there's no difference between the image and the text in it. If one is a problem then so is the other. The competing proclamations were central to the dispute, and would therefore be fair use even if they were copyright. First, all images published after 1977, with or without a copyright notice, are copyrighted. See my useful helpfile on the subject for details. Second, copying that much text from a source into Wikipedia would be considered a copyright violation. The relevant date is 1989, not 1977. In any case, these proclamations were published in 1960 and 1962, well before either date, and they bear no copyright notice. The signatories could not have republished them after 1989, because most of them were dead by that time, and the dispute was history. Since it's not copyright, there's no limit to how much can be copied.
My alternative theory is that even if they were copyright it would be fair use to reproduce the entire proclamations, because they are crucial to illustrating the dispute. They are primary artifacts of that dispute - there's a reason they get reproduced and circulated today, and have been posted on the WP article. You really aren't qualified to judge the question, because you have no knowledge of the subject matter, and can't even read the text; you can't possibly say how much of the text would be "too much" to qualify for fair use.   • The licensing on this image is all screwed up. Sub-image 1 is copyrighted and is only being used under fair use and there's no appropriate tagging or rationale for it. Images 2-4 are public domain. Mere transformation of an image creates no new copyright. Stitching together 3 public domain images is not enough to pass the threshold of originality (or the Bridgeman v Corel test for that matter) for generating a new copyright, which means the 3 shouldn't be GFDL and the first one DEFINITELY shouldn't be. — -N 22:06, 12 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • (scratching head) Either what I did is threshold new creative, in which case I've GFDLed (my work) per WP policy, or it isn't, in which case it's effectively PD, or I'll make it explicit if that's necessary.   • Delete or justify as fair use (very questionable). If I take a Harry Potter DVD, shrink the picture to occupy 1/4 of the screen area (the rest filled with blackness) and then put it on a DVD and sell it my friends, have I magically escaped copyright ?   • I marked this as replaceable fair use but the image was kept by the reviewing admin. However, this image is replaceable in the article it is used in Exploding head where it is being used to show an exploding head, not the movie this image is from. It has a single sentence fair use rationale, which doesn't even talk about why the image is needed. The fair use tag used requires "identification and critical commentary on the film and its contents". This image is instead being used to illustrate what an exploding head is, not for critical commentary on the film. — -N 00:41, 13 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment: Warning. Disturbing image. I was the deciding admin, but I'm not sure I was right. There are questions as to whether the image is even from that movie.   • Delete WP:NFC gives "A short video excerpt from a contemporary film, used without comment or analysis in the surrounding text" as a specific example of unacceptable use.
