Original – Promotional poster for the play Sherlock Holmes (1900) by William Gillette. Gillette's Holmes was the first to utter "Elementary, my dear Watson", a phrase that never appears in Arthur Conan Doyle's stories. It was also Gillette who introduced the famous curved pipe as a trademark Holmes prop.
Reason
Nominating again an edit that was added in the end of Wikipedia:Featured picture candidates/Sherlock Holmes (play), and was close to promotion.
High EV - promotional poster of an important and influential play and early adaption of Sherlock Holmes, from 1900. Quality and scan are quite good.
