Original – Adolfo Hohenstein's design for Act II of La bohème for the original 1896 production.

Reason: I don't think that Adolfo Hohenstein's designs for the première of a notable opera could really fail to be notable. This one is quite pretty, and, other than a lot of dust spots - a LOT of dust spots - and some minor damage, it held up pretty well for a century-old work.
