Original - Hera is a singer-songwriter from Iceland who now lives in Christchurch, New Zealand. Her facial art is "inspired by moko and also by Celtic warrior paint". It is intended to represent both her Icelandic and New Zealand heritage. The symbols represent aspects of her life and family, but their exact meanings she has chosen to keep secret.

Crop of the above without some of the blurry wall on the right (File:Hera photo by Kyle Cassidy without blurry wall on right.jpg) proposed by Jeff G.
Reason
Compelling and professional quality portrait of an eyecatching and notable individual from a notable photographer, released under a free license. The EV is particularly high, because it shows off the "facial art" for which the subject is known. Caption nabbed from the article.

  • Support. High quality and striking portrait, excellent EV. When I saw this appear in the article, I thought it should be nominated, so I'm glad to see it here already. --Avenue (talk) 01:20, 15 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support Maybe missed the focus a little, but not a deal breaker. Noodle snacks (talk) 10:39, 15 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support Absolutely striking shot with high encyclopedic and very high quality. Cat-five - talk 05:13, 16 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • This snowballing support is a bit surprising. For commons this is perfect, but here, I am not sure that the composition is really the best. Would it be possible to have a crop without 20% of the right side? Nergaal (talk) 23:23, 19 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support but I prefer the crop.   — Jeff G.  ツ 19:04, 22 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
    • I think I prefer the original, to be honest. Much nicer looking. J Milburn (talk) 19:37, 22 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
      • Also, you appear to have fiddled the lighting; was that deliberate? As an aside, I am reminded of this nomination, in which the more interesting composition was featured. J Milburn (talk) 19:39, 22 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
        • No, that was not deliberate. All I did with Paint.NET was crop to 1393x1331 and save at 95% quality. Would another quality setting be better in this case?   — Jeff G.  ツ 19:47, 22 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • I think the current crop is too tight. It kills the composition. Try only half of the crop you did (also, save at 100%). Nergaal (talk) 00:10, 23 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
    • Or perhaps not tight enough. It does make the composition unbalanced, but cropping the other side might fix that. --Avenue (talk) 01:56, 23 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
    •   Done, 1700px with 100% quality.   — Jeff G.  ツ 05:30, 25 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
