Wikipedia:Featured Article Help Desk/Requests/Atlanta

Atlanta (Talk:Atlanta, Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Atlanta) Hi there! I am in the process of improving the quality of information on the Atlanta article and its sub-articles, in particular History of Atlanta, and I still need to get to others like Architecture of Atlanta. My question is mainly around references but let me explain: I am following a methodology to improve content. One example for the section "History": I started with the body of the sub-article, i.e. the body of History of Atlanta. I give full source info for all the statements in the body. Then I wrote a summary intro section of about 3 paragraphs at the top of History of Atlanta. This I don't provide sources for since

  1. it is hard to assign individual sources to the intro sentences b/c they summarize entire sections of the body, and
  2. I think that is not a problem b/c people can easily check further down

That intro section of the sub-article (copy) then becomes (paste) the History section of the Atlanta page, the main article. But now, within the main Atlanta article, there are no references for the history information. What do I need to do in order to put Atlanta on the path to FA? Do I just need to bite the bullet and add references in the main Atlanta article? Can you suggest an approach which minimizes busy work?

Also any general remarks or suggestions are more than welcome. I would like to make Atlanta and its subs absolutely *shine* Keizers (talk) 16:39, 2 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
