Post for Highly Relevant and Notable Rug Site

Hello, hope I have brought this to the correct area of Wikipedia. I wanted to enter info on a very unique site about Rugs called Rug Rag. Wikipedia has marked it for speedy deletion. What is the best way to go about posting background on this reference. They have excellent reputation, many first of their kind interactivity with users, info on rugs that most dealers would never reveal to their customers, and above all, they are the first independent rug reviewer. There is an article written up on floorbiz.com, and the site is very notable in the industry.

Would someone mind making suggestions on how best to represent this site and also appeal to wikipedia criteria? Much appreciation, thanks so much for your time in advance

Rug Rag offers third party consumer safeguards with a "GIA equivalent" assessment for authentic Persian and Oriental Rugs. Rug Rag is the only known provider of this service.

Hi and welcome to Wikipedia. With the article you are trying to write, do you have any sources that discuss the site which aren't company press releases? Also note WP:WEB, especially the line "Wikipedia articles should not exist only to describe the nature, appearance or services a website offers..." Much of what you have written appears to be about the services the site offers. All of the material you have written appears to be intended towards driving visitors to the site, and not really detailing the site in a more neutral documentation of the site. Sorry but you need reliable sources to back up what appears to be something you just made up. You might also want to note that for making numbered lists in Wikipedia you need to use the # sign. For example

Anyone have a reference for this word phenom?

I would like to expand on some ideas. Perhaps they are some form of glossolalia or other. Perhaps not. They are both observable and have often repeated in my experience over the years, and therefore worth mentioning for the sake of investigation.

A word will come into play in one context while appearing at the same time in another context. This occurs with one or more indiviuals observing the synchronous event. Wondering if this phenomenae is covered in any other discipline that any know of?

Also, a form of glossolalia I have observed is when an unknown word (to myself) comes to mind appropriate and pertinent for the time/event. Most fascinating when it is in another language completely foreign to myself. Wondering if this phenomenae is covered in any other discipline that any know of? First a minor note, you don't need to provide full URLs for wikipedia pages, you just use two brackets [[User:Propersideshowbob/Yahoo Browserplus]] becomes User:Propersideshowbob/Yahoo Browserplus, see Wikipedia:Manual of Style (links). The main thing I would say is to provide sources outside of Yahoo! to provide information about why this article should be noted in wikipedia. If Yahoo is the only place providing information, and all of this is available on their site, why would someone come to wikipedia instead to read about it? If it has been written about by sources outside of Yahoo, or compared to similar tools, or there is information that Wikipedia could provide that Yahoo currently doesn't, but there is no need to simply rehash Yahoo's information in a wiki format, as we don't really need to include everything. -Optigan13 (talk) 03:28, 13 December 2008 (UTC)

Viscape

Can somebody please help me with this page? It is marked for deletion, but I thought that it met the guidelines. It's a site that I really like, but it wasn't included on Wikipedia. BBS Addition

I was doing some checking on BBSes yesterday. When I saw the List_of_bulletin_board_systems, I noticed that:

1. It's title and it's stated purpose (listing notable BBSes) do not match.
2. The purpose is wholely subjective and there are no criteria listed that define "notable".
3. Noone seems to be maintaining it, as can be evidenced by the "red" link for Sherwood Forest BBS.
4. The list is woefully incomplete, so I added a selection of links to BBS lists (both historical and current).

Lacking specific criteria for inclusion of BBSes that are notable, I would like to suggest the following be added and have their own pages:

1. The Tower of Babble (ToB) - a single-line, community-based BBS, which I cannot write because it was my own BBS.
2. Online Data Systems (ODS) - a multi-line, noded, community-based BBS that contributed to ExecPC_BBS being sold. I was an active member and Forum moderator (as well as assisting with some of the community events). In fact, I was at an ODS event when Bob Mahoney showed up and announced what was happening to ExecPC.
3. Metropolis (Metro Big 10, Metropolis Big 12) BBS (all branches) - a multi-line, multi-state (it had lines in various states, including WI and CO), noded BBS that contributed to the demise of ODS. I was a user of the 2 branches of this BBS when it was still mostly dial-up.

Due to conflict of interest, I cannot write these articles, and I am not sure of the worthiness of the inclusion of my own BBS. In addition, resources to site for such BBSes are often sketchy and have to rely on historical BBS lists like BBSMates.com, Textfiles.com's BBS Lists, and other sources of that ilk. I never published a book about my BBS, nor has it been mentioned in any books (that I am aware of).

Reasons for inclusion of ToB (GBBS Pro software):

1. It was listed on international BBS lists (I can only find evidence of 3 other Wisconsin BBSes that had that distinction in the 1990s) and had some long distance and international users.
2. It was a secondary distribution point for Phrack_Magazine, via Lightning Systems BBS.
3. It was a distribution point for a large collection of Apple II freeware, shareware and pirated software available online, with more offline, with a secret affiliation to the pirating group "Duplication Express".
4. In its prime, it generated more messages on the message boards than ODS, despite ODS being linked into newsgroups and such.
5. It was community-oriented and supported by a combination of donations and my own money. Users were also invited to be message board moderators, and new message boards were created by request.
6. It received, in its heyday, more than 30 callers per day.
7. Aside from the message boards and software, it offered online games, a library of text files (including adult files that were restricted to adults), counselling services by members who volunteered, and other features.

Those are a few things which I suggest make this website as notable as those already included on the List_of_bulletin_board_systems.

Reasons for the inclusion of Online Data Systems BBS:

1. It was one of the first big multi-liners in Wisconsin that was connected to newsgroups, Internet forums and even had the Lynx text browser.
2. Its influence and popularity contributed to ExecPC being sold by Bob Mahoney and was, until the advent of Metro BBS, the only real competition for ExecPC. Others, such as UDN, were pet projects, under-funded and/or just too "small," despite being multi-lined.
3. It did far more in terms of community than ExecPC, regularly holding user get-togethers such as the "Full-Moon Club," a meet-and-eat-at-midnight-during-the-full-moon club ; yearly camping trips to Krivitz, Wisconsin; monthly get-togethers at Pipe Organ Pizza Restaurant, followed by ice cream at Omega Custard; yearly ODS anniversary parties; and various other events of a smaller sort.
4. It offered a very complete list of services, aside from chat rooms: local and Internet forums, newsgroups, file downloads, email, RPGs, MUDs, group and individual games, and much more.

Reasons for the inclusion of Metro (Big 10/Metropolis Big 12) BBS (MajorBBS software):

1. It is one of the only BBSes I am aware of that had dial-up access in multiple states
2. It was available to the general public in at least Kansas, Wisconsin and Colorado (and other states which I don't recall).
3. It offered full services (chat, games, forums, email, nodes on the Internet, eventual telnet access, etc.). This included MajorMud, which helped cause the demise of UDN and ODS. This appears to be related to Metropolis_Gameport, although that is just a stub about the company, linked from MajorMUD.
4. It was a very large "twin" BBS in that it was actually two separate BBSes that were linked to each other so that users of either BBS could play with and communicate with each other. Login access was available to both BBSes from a central dial-in number, and you could have multiple accounts as a result.
5. It had community activities as well, such as get-togethers, although I have no specifics about them. They were most often held in Kansas, where the company was based.
6. Its multi-state popularity and pull directly contributed to the decline and death of Ultima Data Network and Online Data Systems, two Wisconsin-based multi-line pay BBSes.

Benchmark Electronics - New Article

I have created a new article about Benchmark Electronics, Inc. I am an employee of Benchmark Electronics, and I am trying to have the article reviewed for notability, verifiability, and neutral point of view. Because I have an obvious conflict of interest, I am trying to follow the guidelines from Wikipedia:FAQ/Organization page. I am a bit confused as to where I need to post this for review, so if this is not the place to do it, or if I need to post it somewhere else as well, please let me know.
