Topics of Discussion:

  • Ambassador Ratios
    • Officially long-term objective is 1 to 15/20, with at least one officially Wikipedian per class - but in short-term this ratio will not be enforced
      • Guidelines will be officially posted by noon PST today
      • May require some classes to be only "1st come, 1st serve" although this will not
    • Objective is to improve quality, and will require turning down some professors but will get better results from the program overall
  • Ambassador Recruitment Ideas
    • Current predictions give us ~20 Online Ambassadors at most, and in order to stay even at least we need to increase numbers
    • We need to look at improving feedback/communication between OA and CA/Professors
      • Encouraging students to send a message to CA/OA/Professor Account in the 1st/2nd week
    • Determine more active WikiProjects (WikiMedia might have something like this?) we should be able to get some very targeted individuals
  • Roles & Responsibilities
    • Looking at Long-term prospects, will be confirming with the Foundation as things are still changing
    • Will bring more Regional Ambassadors into our discussions to firm up relations on the Campus Ambassador side of things
  • Newsletter Revitalization
    • LiAnna Davis, is looking at bringing this back - no need to worry about this right now
  • Increasing Regional/Campus Ambassador on the SC
    • Jami/Richard will get 2-3 RAs to attend next SC meeting
  • 1st Semester wrap-up
    • Obar Project to make a class about Admin duties
    • Media-commons classes working on images/videos has helped as well
    • India Program bleed-in issues, should be better for 2nd semester with the project being tabled
      • Past: Many issues, nothing that directly in the classroom carried over into North America - but image wise it still hurts
      • Future: "India loves Wikipedia commons" project, should help as well. (where guys just take pics, do diagrams, and put it up on commons)
    • Final stats to verified shortly
      • Usergroups to be made for each class, to improve stats/communications; ETA next semester?
    • Training Programs (video wise) will be ready Fall 2012
      • Professors, Students, Ambassadors
  • Wikipedia Recruitment Ambassadors
    • Currently focused on hubs of San Francisco, CA; Seattle, WA; Washington, D.C.; Ann Arbor, MI; Bloomington, IN
  • Talk page check
    • Focus on professors/over students? Beg/accept classes into program
  • Page Updates
    • Some disconnect with LiAnna on what we should/can edit
    • Some Streamlining has occurred by the foundation, eta 1st of year?
  • Do we officially need to adopt Canada/North America into the name?
    • Yes/No will look into based on what comes out of the next week or so.
