How would you describe the nature of this dispute? (policy violation, content dispute, personal attack, other)

  • Answer: I believe this to be a policy violation (non biased) content dispute and a personal attack. It appears that the user Acmforex has written articles pertaining to the company ACM Forex as an advertisement. Acmforex wrote two articles describing the same company and had multiple external links linking back to thier page. This seems to me to be an advertisment and it does not seem right to have it on wikipedia. The user Acmforex then wrote a nasty note on my user space critisizing me for my edits.

What methods of Dispute Resolution have you tried so far? If you can, please provide wikilinks so that the Advocate looking over this case can see what you have done.

  • Answer: I tried talking to the user by writing a response to their edit on my userpage, and I wrote an explanation of the edits I had done on their userpage. Acmforex has yet to respond to those.

What do you expect to get from Advocacy?

  • Answer: I feel somewhat alone in taking on what I think is a company employee. I just need a little back up, am I wrong to think the original articles were advertisements?

I found two articles online about a company called ACM forex. Both articles had multiple external links, linking to their website, and both articles were written, in what I thought, was an advertisement. They provided no backup evidence for thier claims and it just seemed to be a fake wiki article. I corrected the error, which entailed deleting most of the page, but they reverted my edits and then wrote a nasty note on my userpage. I could go back and forth with them reverting edits but I am still somewhat new and I would like some guidence on how I should proceed. Did I do something wrong? Should I have handled it differently? Were they ok articles under the wiki guidlines? I love Wikipedia and I am doing my best to contribute, but acmforex's comment on my user page made me want to seek outside help.

This issue has progressed, after I spelled out the issues with the articles a little further on the discussion pages, aparently a non registered user with just an IP, has reverted the errors. I believe this to be the same user.

Furthur information, an IP address has reverted some of my edits, so I took a look into that IP address's history and they have randomly inserted links to ACM Forex's website

  • Answer: While the issue was resolved in my favor, actually it seems as though other administrators looked into the issue, but I definatly found solice in the fact that wiki this advocacy service.

Did your Advocate handle your case in an appropriate manner?

  • Answer: Yes, though nothing was really done, but I do not blame them for that, the offending articles were speedily deleted quicker than the advocate could look into it

  • Answer: I had very minimal contact with my advocate but from what he/she said it was perfectly polite
