Here is what happened : First version (which stayed for a month) :

• Support for the monarchy is usually low in Quebec in recent history : a july 2009 opinion poll suggested that a strong majority of the population favoured the monarchy's elemination.

Today, you change it to :

• A June 2009 opinion poll found that 86% of respondents in Quebec held the opinion that at the end of the reign of Queen Elizabeth II, Canada should "cut its connection to the monarchy."

I edit it to add more information to explain the conclusion made in my first version, thinking that it would satisfy the reason of your modification while not denaturing the idea.

• Support for the monarchy is far from being unanimous in Quebec in recent history : a july 2009 opinion poll suggested that a strong majority of the population favoured the monarchy's elemination, the opposition has been decribed as "nearly unanimous" and it is considered the only province with a strong support for a republic.

You are invited meet with your fellow Wikipedians by attending the Montréal meetup scheduled on Sunday, June 27, 2010; between 1500 - 1700 to be held at the Comité Social Centre Sud (CSCS), located at 1710 Beaudry, in Montréal. You can sign up at the meetup page.

The meetup is happening in concurrence with RoCoCo 2010, a free, bilingual, weekend unconference including many people involved with Wikis both within the Wikipedia/Wikimedia Community and abroad. ArbCom elections are now open!
