Preliminary Review from Kaylea edit

Hi, I'm starting to walk through articles and give everyone informal early feedback on how they're doing. You'll notice this is a little bit form-letter-ish but I hope it is still helpful!

My general take right now is that you're making good progress on this article, so please keep working. Be sure to incorporate feedback from the peer review. You might find it helpful to apply the peer review guide to your own article as you think about where to go next.

One area to improve for this article is your use of sources and citations. Right now what I see is a fair bit of text being added without the sources to back it up. As you add in sources, you should also try to include diverse sources so that you don't need to lean too heavily on an organization's own website. There's a policy about that that may help, WP:OWNSITE.

feedback on progress edit

Hi @Zjopiniano:

I can see that you are making progress on this article, but it's not yet ready to go live. One issue I notice is that the citation format is not what Wikipedia is expecting. Take a look at the WikiEdu material on how to make a citation; if it's done correctly, after you fill out the fields in the citation wizard, you will see little numeric markers that are clickable. You also might take note of some of the news about the garden. I see some mention of a wall being built -- https://www.seattle.gov/parks/find/parks/kubota-garden -- and it looks like quite a few different sites refer to the garden's style as mixing American and Japanese aesthetics. You might also think about adding an infobox to the page.

Go Live Approval edit

Hi @Zjopiniano:

This article looks like it needs a little more expansion before it would receive full credit for this assignment, but you have approval to move it to live if you are ready. If you want to, you can move it to live and then continue to work. The goal is to advance the article by a quality class in ways that demonstrate engagement with the norms of Wikipedia. The photo credit does need to be fixed so that it's attached to the image instead of in the text.

As a reminder, here are our go-live steps:

  1. Final read-through draft.
  2. Check live article for changes. [History Tab]
  3. Two browsers side by side, if you can. Source editing mode ("Code mode"), not visual editor.
  4. Paragraph by paragraph copy, leaving behind an explanatory edit summary after each chunk of changes.
  5. Note on article talk page.
  6. Note at the top of your sandbox version.
  7. Submit a link to your article on Canvas.
  8. Celebrate!
