Ashington Photos? edit

Hey ZeroWing22. I'm working a bit on the Ashington club page, but I'm a Canadian. I don't suppose you could take some pictures up in Ashington if you head up that way? (Hopefully it'll be the Colliers' turn for the Northumberland Senior Cup this year. :) - 142.166.94.60 (talk) 17:08, 20 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Well, I don't live far from Ashington. The only thing is though, I wouldn't know how to get there, I am only 16 year's old, so it would be quite difficult. I have a friend who lives in Ashington, so I could ask him to get some photo's. Any specific pictures you would like? Zerowing22 (talk) 17:17, 20 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
Not really anything special. The players if he goes to a game, and the stadium, I suppose. Just something to give some visuals to the page. (And whoops, forgot to log in last time.) - Wmcduff (talk) 17:32, 20 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
I will ask him. I will update you if I get any news or pictures. Zerowing22 (talk) 22:43, 20 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
EDIT: http://www.ashingtonafc.com/index.php?page=the-stadium Try that link, there's a picture of a part of the stadium on their website, i don't know if you've looked already. It says more pictures to follow so if I don't get any you could always just keep checking the website. Zerowing22 (talk) 22:46, 20 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
Unfortunately, as we don't have the rights to those images, the club does, so they're not supposed to be on Wikipedia. You need pics that you can release to Creative Commons, alas. - Wmcduff (talk) 01:23, 21 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for all your help, by the way. I thought I'd give you a little present for Whitley Bay as appreciation. Hope you can use it! (Unfortunately, the Northern Alliance League era would have to be dug up yourself...) - Wmcduff (talk) 15:30, 21 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Thanks a lot. I will update it on the page when I have some spare time. I have a website for all the information regarding the teams in Whitley Bay's division. Here it is.... http://www.northernleague.org/index.php hope this helps you.Zerowing22 (talk) 15:23, 22 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Been using it (and a bunch of others) to try to dig up the league history of Ashington. Been tough work! I'm down to 1969-70 with the Northern Alliance League, 1960-61 with the Northern Counties League, and all the East Northumberland League years. The Ashington website tells me which league the team was in, but no more, so trying to match things up. (For example, Ashington says they won the Northern Alliance Cup in 1947-48, but the Ashington Reserves were playing in the NAL at that time, so it seems odd.) Ahh, research... - Wmcduff (talk) 16:22, 22 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

You seem to know a lot more than what I do about it then, and I live about a 5 minutes walk from Whitley Bay's stadium. My next task is to try and research some information about Whitley Bay's stadium, Hillhead's Park. I don't know much about the non-league and the 9th level of English football to be honest. I support Newcastle United, but as you'll probably already know. There is already a detailed page about them and there isn't much worth adding to, unless it's recent like transfers.Zerowing22 (talk) 19:04, 22 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Hey Zero; Ashington's going to come visit Whitley Bay on the 2nd. Any chance you and a camera could get to that one? (If not, they'll meet again in the quarters of the County Cup in early November...) - Wmcduff (talk) 04:39, 9 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Is it at Hillheads? If so, then I will try and get my self to it. Hopefully Newcastle aren't playing. Just checked, Newcastle play away to Man City on the Sunday so I will go. Anything in particular? Zerowing22 (talk) 17:13, 10 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Whitley's the home team, so I assume so. Just some pics of the boys playing would be nice. If you can get a nice 'team' shot of either team, that might be good as well. It's just good to have pictures that are released to Wikipedia. - Wmcduff (talk) 05:38, 11 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

I have included the league statistics into Whitley's page so I am taking it off here. I just thought I would let you know so that you didn't think I had been ignorant by removing it. Thanks by the way, if you could help in any way possible then I'd appreciate it. Zerowing22 (talk) 19:26, 10 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Whitley's on my watch list anyway. :) I'll let you know if I run across anything, but the only thing I can find is [1] where it mentions at the top of the page that there's a minute book of the Northern Alliance covering the period 1935-1958 which is held in the Tyne and Wear Archives. That might get you back to 1950, but you'd have to go poking into the Archives to find it. If you need a help with formatting that beast, let me know. Not sure what else I could do... - Wmcduff (talk) 05:38, 11 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Okay. I might be going to Manchester City away on the Sunday so I will do my best to get to the Whitley game on the Saturday. There was a PDF file on Whitley's website somewhere so if you would like me to find it again then I will. Their official website doesn't give much information so updating and adding current information is quite hard, especially when the players who play for them are not known that well. If I have a fair bit of spare time I will try and do an article about their current season. Zerowing22 (talk) 21:40, 12 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Shoot. Nevermind. The Whitley Bay-Ashington game is going to be reschedule because Ashington will have a FA Vase game that weekend against Billingham Town. Maybe for the Senior Cup game in November? - Wmcduff (talk) 17:35, 18 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Ah, damn! I will try and get to that one then. I went to Everton yesterday, it was brilliant! Zerowing22 (talk) 18:03, 19 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

[2] Date's been set for the Whitley/Ashington Northumberland Senior Cup game at Hillheads. 23 November 2010, 7:30 pm. Just thought I'd let you know. :) - Wmcduff (talk) 02:45, 21 October 2010 (UTC)Reply
Did you get to go and take pictures of the game this week, by chance? - Wmcduff (talk) 15:34, 13 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

I didn't mate. I have been ill with the flu, not been to college either. If I am honest I completely forgot about Wikipedia, not been on for quite some time. Zerowing22 (talk) 20:02, 15 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
