Edit summaries

edit

Hi there. When editing an article on Wikipedia there is a small field labeled "Edit summary" under the main edit-box. It looks like this:

The text written here will appear on the Recent changes page, in the page revision history, on the diff page, and in the watchlists of users who are watching that article. See m:Help:Edit summary for full information on this feature.

Filling in the edit summary field greatly helps your fellow contributors in understanding what you changed, so please always fill in the edit summary field. If you are adding a section, please do not just keep the previous section's header in the Edit summary field - please fill in your new section's name instead. Thank you. List of UFC champions changes

edit

Hello

I reverted your changes because the style of that List was fine and generally accepted before. The list is also classified as an featured list which solidifies the style of it and large scale changes you made should be discussed first on the talk page of the article. I also feel that the old style had better readability and more professional look. Mainly because of centering of fields and unified column widths. Title defenses are rather too tightly packed at least on my screen, I like the numbering you added though.

Anyway, it's mainly an issue of style and I don't really have no policy or anything to quote that would indicate your new style is wrong. So I am not going to revert your changes again, I will see what other people think about this and see what they will do. As a general advise I also recommend starting a discussion before making major changes like this in the future and sign posts you make on talk pages. --Tuoppi gm (talk) 13:58, 31 May 2011 (UTC)Reply
