Note on the removal of Wikiquote links edit

I am removing external links directing to Wikiquote pages that have multiple copyright violations and other issues. Wikiquote links need to conform to the Wikipedia:External links guideline as all other external links. See the following WP:ANI discussion for clarification. --Xsaorapa (talk) 16:01, 12 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

STOP removing links to Wikiquote - that is a sister project to Wikipedia and should be linked in the External links section - as explained here - Arjayay (talk) 11:19, 10 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hello, it is allowed to remove these links if they do no meet the standards of WP:EL. Please see this discussion here. --Xsaorapa (talk) 11:29, 10 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
Hi Xsaorapa - It seems that I also owe you an apology. That's two experienced editors making the same mistake - although I agree with User:Joshua Jonathan when he said "excuse me for being surprised when an account that's never been used before starts with mass-removal of links; quite unusual for new accounts, isn't it?"
Unfortunately you are likely to encounter this again, unless you can make your edit summary far more specific, I would also suggest adding an explanatory note at the top of this page, where it can be seen by the next editor to assume you are vandalizing, like I did.
Most browsers give a pop-up menu of previous edit summaries, so you should only need to enter it once or twice before you can select it, so a more detailed explanation should not be laborious. Possibly "Rm link to Wikiquote containing multiple copyvios see explanation at [[User talk:Xsaorapa]]" The detailed explanation on this page should be at the top, and include the link to the ANI discussion (which will shortly be archived).
As the ANI discussion has been closed I cannot add my comments there, but leaving the copyvios on Wikiquote, and just removing the link, doesn't solve the underlying problem.
I suspect that, rather like leaving a copyvio image on commons and removing the link to the image, rather than deleting the image, it is likely to be relinked in the future - I seem to recall that, at some point, there was a Bot automatically adding links to Wikiquote, although I could be wrong.
Anyway, apologies again - it looks like I have some cleaning-up to do - Best wishes - Arjayay (talk) 12:31, 10 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
OK - I have now reverted all my reversions of your edits - Best wishes - Arjayay (talk) 12:51, 10 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

It's ok, I agree with you about the copyvios on Wikiquote, removing the links here is not a definitive solution. Thank you for the advices. Best wishes to you, too. --Xsaorapa (talk) 18:11, 10 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hi Xsaorapa - Just a suggestion - if you make the title of your note a section heading you can then link directly to it - to use my talk page as an example, I link to my second note as "please see User talk:Arjayay#Broadcasted" - if you then add __TOC__ immediately underneath it, it will stand out above the table of contents - Best wishes - Arjayay (talk) 16:21, 12 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hello, that's good to know. Thank you again for the kind advices. Regards and best wishes too. --Xsaorapa (talk) 16:31, 12 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

July 2020 edit

Hello, I'm Alivardi. I noticed that you recently removed content from Jalaluddin Muhammad Shah without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the removed content has been restored. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks.
