Managing a conflict of interest

Hello, XPOTours. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Saona Island, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

• avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization, clients, or competitors;
• propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{edit COI}} template);

Hi there, sorry if I did anything wrong as I though I had to create a user for the new information I would post, I'm trying to figure out how to give useful information to readers. The link I changed was about best tours and seemed promotional and outdated therefor I linked to a page talking about the island itself. XPOTours (talk) 19:52, 7 February 2024 (UTC)

The link you were concerned with replacing has been removed as it too was promotional and not to a reliable source. Please read WP:RS

Please select an acceptable username. per WP:CORPNAME "Because Wikipedia's policy is that usernames should not be shared between more than one individual, the following types of usernames are not permitted because they imply shared use:

• Usernames that are simply names of companies or groups are not permitted (these also fall under Promotional names).
• Personal usernames that imply shared access, such as "Jack and Jill", are not permitted.
• Usernames that are names of posts within organizations, such as "Secretary of the XY Foundation", are not permitted, as such a post may be held by different persons at different times.
• However, usernames are acceptable if they contain a company or group name but are clearly intended to denote an individual person, such as "Mark at WidgetsUSA", "Jack Smith at the XY Foundation", "WidgetFan87", etc.".

May I ask why my link about information on the island would be less accepted than the current page selling tours for 85 USD? Trying to understand the philosophy.

The talk text said I had to unlock the account and change user name, wanted to to change CaribbeanTraveler as I would like to contribute to some article which are having some missing information. trying to get started.
