Image copyright problem with Image:Casey_Mears.gif edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Casey_Mears.gif. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

Image:BlueDHuskie copy.jpg edit

Hello, WildFan48. An automated process has found and removed an image or media file tagged as nonfree media, and thus is being used under fair use that was in your userspace. The image (Image:BlueDHuskie copy.jpg) was found at the following location: User:WildFan48. This image or media was attempted to be removed per criterion number 9 of our non-free content policy. The image or media was replaced with Image:NonFreeImageRemoved.svg , so your formatting of your userpage should be fine. Please find a free image or media to replace it with, and or remove the image from your userspace. User:Gnome (Bot)-talk 06:42, 15 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Minnesota edit

Hello, and welcome to the Minnesota project! You seem to know a lot about motorsports and sports in general. If you have a chance take a look at Sports in Minnesota. It needs some work, especially in the motorsports area, and additional text, with references, would help. With several Minnesota articles already featured, it would help to bring up the level of the other articles as well. Good luck. Kablammo 01:31, 30 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

  • All right.....I have already added a bit about Indy 500 winner Tommy Milton. In the coming days I will try to add some more about NASCAR and NHRA tracks in Minnesota. I just don't have the time right now. WildFan48 02:15, 30 May 2007 (UTC)Reply
Thanks. Any contributions are appreciated! Kablammo 02:19, 30 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Minnesota Timberwolves logo.png removed from your user page edit

An image or media file, Image:Minnesota Timberwolves logo.png, has been removed from your userpage or user talk page because it was licensed as fair use. Wikipedia's fair use policy states that fair use images should only be used in the article namespace. As a result, although users are often given a great amount of latitude in the type of content that is allowed on their user pages, it is requested that you abide by this policy. Feel free, however, to add images and media files licensed under other terms. For more information, see Wikipedia's fair use policy and an accompanying essay on the removal of fair use images. Thank you for your cooperation.

MG edit

Many things changed since that time. Just look inside categories for Slovak or Czech ice hockey players. All are with diacritics. Gáborík should be, too. - Darwinek 19:46, 25 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Personally I see no problem having it with diacritics when a version without diacritics exists as a redirect. - Darwinek 20:10, 25 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
Sure, go ahead. - Darwinek 20:21, 25 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
Hey actually as per WP:HOCKEY/PPF#Diacritics: Diacritics shall be applied to all the player pages. I reverted Gaborik to the correct format. IrisKawling 03:40, 26 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Duplicate images uploaded edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Chad Knaus.jpg. A machine-controlled robot account noticed that you also uploaded the same image under the name Image:Chan Knaus.jpg. The copy called Image:Chan Knaus.jpg has been marked for speedy deletion since it is redundant. If this sounds okay to you, there is no need for you to take any action.

This is an automated message- you have not upset or annoyed anyone, and you do not need to respond. In the future, you may save yourself some confusion if you supply a meaningful file name and refer to 'my contributions' to remind yourself exactly which name you chose (file names are case sensitive, including the extension) so that you won't lose track of your uploads. For tips on good file naming, see Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions about this notice, or feel that the deletion is inappropriate, please contact User:Staecker, who operates the robot account. Staeckerbot 20:45, 31 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Kyle Busch edit

First off, I want to say thanks for informing me of my mistake. I did not realize that several sections of the page disappeared after I had edited the page, but noticed that the references on the bottom of the page were missing. I always look at the page preview, and this was just a stupid mistake.

However, Kyle Busch moving to Gibbs is not speculation, read this. http://msn.foxsports.com/nascar/story/7097570

I was wondering if I could revert your changes to mine, since this story basically confirms his decision to move to Joe Gibbs Racing. Although it states that there are details to finalize, again this can't be regarded as speculation as this is coming from his rep, Jeff Dickerson, and that this story is on multiple sits also.

Thank you.

Morneau picture edit

Re: this edit, you really think that picture is better? The one I took shows his face, is a bit better lit, and is far higher resolution. I certainly won't say all my photos are fantastic but that one actually came out pretty nice. As far as being regular season vs. Spring Training, how could you tell? —Wknight94 (talk) 02:19, 25 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Never mind. It looks these Twins pictures you uploaded are all licensed as non-commercial. I am tagging them for speedy deletion per WP:CSD#I3. —Wknight94 (talk) 02:54, 25 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
Sorry, I thought that because Wikipedia is a non-profit organization that non-commercial images were acceptable. I couldn't find a template for non-commercial images so I didn't know what to use for the license. Why are these images not okay for Wikipedia? And is it just Attribution and ShareAlike CC licenses that can be uploaded, but not NoDerivs and non-commercial?
P.S. To answer your question: I'm sure that not only me, but also a lot of other baseball fans can tell by Morneau's jersey that it is spring training. WildFan48 20:12, 25 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free media (Image:2007 Chase for Cup logo.jpg) edit

Thanks for uploading Image:2007 Chase for Cup logo.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 05:53, 11 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

NFL starting quarterbacks template edit

That template is only intended to be updated each week after games have been played, and the players on it are supposed to be the start of the most recent game. Starters in practice do not count, they have not yet started a game. These kind of edits violate WP:CRYSTAL, since Jackson hasn't started most recently for the Vikes yet. He could tear an ACL. He could violated a team rule and be benched. He could be hit by a bus. While he's likely to start, he has not yet so he's not the starter until then.►Chris NelsonHolla! 02:45, 12 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:Nationwide Series logo.png edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Nationwide Series logo.png. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. Oh no I'm not a Canucks fan, that part of my name merely states that I'm Canadian. I am actually a big Leafs fan, so I'm all the way in the other conference and would never have any problem if the Wild decided to go on some sort of Stanley Cup run sometime... I must say in my opinion, Minnesota is the most hockey-mad state of them all, very Canadian-like. Croat Canuck Say hello or just talk 20:30, 1 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom elections are now open! edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Proposed deletion of Speed on Fox edit

The article Speed on Fox has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
