List of Irish people edit

I appreciate your rework. During the first round you remove persons and in other cases descriptions. That was not okay. Can you check the other articles you edited for the same? The Banner talk 18:35, 27 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Thanks! And yes, I will take a look at my previous edits to see if I can spot any similar errors. Though, as far as I can tell, I only removed persons in one article, List of Brazilians. By the way, I really think it would be nice to have some specially strict standards for inclusion of names on such lists, instead of the vague guidance of adding "notable people". Maybe someday. Usually the criterion is: must have an own article. The Banner talk 20:27, 27 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
Exactly. And that is where the problem lies, in my opinion. Because if I put just about every person (that has its own article) of a given country in a list of notable people, then that list lose its purpose and end up being just an enormous and exhausting relation of persons that are not well know even on their respective fields of work. Unless, of course, in the cases of very small countries (Bhutan, Vanuatu, Cape Verde etc). What could be done now, while we do not have clearer guidelines, is to require that any new name (or maybe even any name already listed...) has to have a clear and unambiguous source sustaining its supposed notability in a national context. There is always the option of splitting an article. For example: List of Irish actors, List of Irish musicians etcetera. Then the original article is left with a header and a link to the split off part. The Banner talk 21:37, 27 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
