Notability of Paranoid lovesick
editA tag has been placed on Paranoid lovesick requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.
If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.
For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. HeureusementIci (talk) 21:26, 9 March 2009 (UTC)
Hi there. The points that you brought up on my talk page could be an indication of notability, but the article that was originally written was suited more for the band's web page than an encyclopedia. A Wikipedia article should be descriptive and factual and not an arty-type "story of the band".
Here are some tips to writing something that would be less likely to be deleted:
- Make sure that your involvement with the band does not create any conflict of interest;
- Read Your First Article which contains a lot of information about what is expected in Wikipedia articles;
- Get citations from reliable sources where the band is mentioned in a non-trivial way (e.g. reviews from well-known magazines, and when you were featured in Billboard);
- Write a draft of the article in your userspace (e.g. at User:Whokydome!/Paranoid Lovesick) (it can be moved to the main article space when it's finished);
- Get some opinions from other editors at the Drawing Board.
I hope this information is helpful. If you need anything else, feel free to leave a message on my talk page. ... discospinster talk 23:43, 11 March 2009 (UTC)
