By the way, you can sign your name on Talk and discussion pages using four tildes, like this: ~~~~ (the software will replace them with your signature and the date). Again, welcome! Yeah, I saw it earlier...

..and it looks terrific. Very interesting and well-researched. Frankly, I think it's a "Did You Know?" candidate. --PMDrive1061 (talk) 01:49, 19 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

I'd have to say "yes." It's definitely worth posting on the article space. --PMDrive1061 (talk) 23:28, 19 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

I have nominated Isildur1, an article that you created, for deletion. For your excellent first article, Isildur1. Looks like it's heading for unanamous keep at AFD. Keep up the good work! And "may all your cards be live, and all your pots be monsters!" –xenotalk 14:08, 20 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Isildur1

edit

A tag has been placed on Isildur1 requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for organizations and companies. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Contributing to Project Poker

edit

Dear Editors,

I've got some free time on my hands nowadays and think maybe I should contribute to Wikipedia for all the use I've gotten out of it over the years.

As a poker player myself, I find the world of professional poker pretty fascinating. Here are a couple of ways I might be able to contribute. I'd be grateful for some opinions so that what time I can devote to editing is as useful as possible.

1. Improving encyclopedic tone: a lot of the pro poker players' articles are rather personal/informal in tone

2. Combing for uncited information: there is a lot of anecdotal stuff in these articles w/out references

3. Standardizing the format: some of the articles kind of ramble...it might be helpful if all the biographies followed a general format, for example: Introduction; Poker Career (how they got involved in the game, big wins, etc.); Media (TV appearances and the like); Personal Life

Anyway, please let me know if you have any suggestions.
