William L. Thomas (May 2021) edit

Hi, WhoAteMyButter! I just got your message explaining your revert of my changes to the William L. Thomas article on the basis of not citing a reliable source. Although the source is a self-described blog, it appears to meet the criteria for classification as a reliable self-published expert source produced by an established subject-matter expert whose work in the relevant field has previously been published by reliable and independent publication, with the Miami New Times having referred to the blog's operator - a local professional criminal trial and appellate lawyer who frequently practices in the local and regional circuit federal courts - as providing "the definitive source on South Florida's federal court system" with the blog, "reporting and opining on judicial appointments to high-profile cases" in doing so. Moreover, the inclusion of the cited information in question is more-than-suitable enough to warrant its use, as the said information pertains to yet another chapter in the story of Judge Thomas' failed district court aspirations & hasn't been published in another independent reliable source, with no other source - with the exception of Twitter accounts which are solely dedicated to discussing ongoing federal judicial appointment processes having commented on the news & having cited these very articles in question in doing so - having opted to pick up and report on the particular minutiae of a congressional district court recommendation process that Judge Thomas' not being named a finalist constitutes. In any event, despite referring to itself as a blog and being hosted on a website dedicated to blogs, its status would also arguably qualify it for consideration as a news organization - if merely a specialized one - in its own right, in that not only is the cited information not only wholly factual in nature but treated as mere news (that, again, was perhaps too minutiae to have been noticed & then picked up by more facially reliable independent sources), but the blog itself notes that it is solely "dedicated to providing news and notes regarding federal practice in the Southern District of Florida." Sorry on my part, BLP stuff in general warrants harsher looks. Thanks for letting me know and clearing it up; I've restored the edit. WhoAteMyButter (📨talk📝contribs) 06:11, 28 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
