Many college athletes come from households' whose incomes could not otherwise fund their admittance to the universities at which they attend. Given universities' funding of their student athletes' education, college athletes do not go unrewarded for their commitment to athletics. While it is true that universities receive substantial revenues from the performances of their student athletes, these athletes reap steep benefits, as well. Student athletes are in fact rewarded for their performance on the field, despite the absence of direct receipt of the revenues from their performance in college arenas.
