edit

Welcome to Wikipedia. Because we have a policy against usernames which give the impression that the account represents a group, organization or website, I have blocked this account; please take a moment to create a new account with a username that represents only yourself as an individual and which complies with our username policy or request a change of username.

You should also read our conflict of interest guideline and be aware that promotional editing is not acceptable regardless of the username you choose.

If your username does not represent a group, organization or website, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page.

You may simply create a new account, but you may prefer to change your username to one that complies with our username policy, so that your past contributions are associated with your new username. If you would prefer to change your username, you may appeal this username block by adding the text

{{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}

at the bottom of your talk page. Please note that you may only request a name that is not already in use, so please check here for a listing of already taken names.

 Thank you. ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 21:32, 22 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

I fail to understand why you think my username represents something other than myself. It is not the name of a company or anything other than myself as far as I am aware. I have used this username for everything I have done online for 20 years. I edited my page to provide information about my background and a couple references to things I have done. I have gone out of my way to never edit encyclopedia pages that have anything to do with me. Your own user page looks substantially similar to mine. Very confused here. Also, according to the Wikipedia guidelines you are supposed to have initiated a discussion with me to explain your reasoning before blocking my user, as well. Decline reason:

I am declining this request as you state that you no longer wish to be unblocked, and you don't suggest a new username. It actually took me a second to figure out what your username was since you pipe it with your real name- but your actual username is still that of a website. If you change your mind and wish to be unblocked and renamed, you may make a new request. 331dot (talk) 20:06, 23 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

  • I'm guessing it's because you have a website by that name, and the English Wikipedia does not allow usernames which appear to represent websites. Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 16:39, 23 October 2018 (UTC)Reply
  • Seriously, individual human beings cannot have a website that matches their username. That is insane. Nowhere is my website even mentioned in wikipedia.David L Norris (talk) 16:41, 23 October 2018 (UTC)Reply
  • If that is true then leave me blocked and I will stop using Wikipedia. Thats like telling Bob Smith "We're going to call you Ron Jiff because you have a website called BobSmith.com" Thanks.David L Norris (talk) 16:45, 23 October 2018 (UTC)Reply
  • I have requested a username change. I don't want to be associated with Wikipedia if you auto-block indefinitely and cannot be bothered to initiate a discussion first. If the option to delete an account ever happens please do that. If I made any edits please reverse them. David L Norris (talk) 17:17, 23 October 2018 (UTC)Reply
Deleting accounts is not possible, and once you save an edit to Wikipedia, the content belongs to Wikipedia and you cannot request that it be removed solely because you don't want it to be here. 331dot (talk) 20:06, 23 October 2018 (UTC)Reply
You misread my statement. Your clique doesn't want my content here. I also just received a request that I donate to Wikipedia again. For the record, I will not be donating. I put in a username change request outside of this page. If that is not sufficient then please change my username to WasteOfMyTime as I previous requested. WasteOfMyTime 02:55, 25 October 2018 (UTC)
Your donations have no bearing on your edits, whether you donate or not. The Wikimedia Foundation has no direct involvement here. That said, you are not blocked for your edits, only your username as it is that of a website. As you are only soft blocked, you should still be able to create an account on your own if you wish. If you want your edit history moved to your new name, you will need to make a new unblock request with your choice of name. 331dot (talk) 10:23, 25 October 2018 (UTC)Reply
