Mehmed II

edit

I know the poisoning story. I asked if you have any academic sources about it. A Yahoo search which shows websites like Haber7 and İlknokta is not what I want. You also have to find an English text about Yakup Pasha, even a little account about his alleged crime would be okay, in an academic text. Deliogul 14:21, 3 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

There's the link in Britannica which says "there are indications he was poisoned", but without naming Yakup Pasha:

http://www.britannica.com/eb/article-4754/Mehmed-II

Mehmed had assumed the title of Kayser-i Rum (Roman Caesar) and, at the same time, described himself as “the lord of the two lands and the two seas” (i.e., Anatolia and the Balkans, the Aegean and the Black seas), a designation that reflected his idea of the empire. During the quarter-century after the fall of Constantinople, he undertook a series of campaigns or expeditions in the Balkans, Hungary, Walachia, Moldavia, Anatolia, the island of Rhodes, and even as far as the Crimea and Otranto in southern Italy. This last enterprise (1480) indicated that he intended to invade Italy in a new attempt at founding a world empire. The following spring, having just begun a new campaign in Anatolia, he died 15 1/2 miles (25 kilometres) from Constantinople. Gout, from which he had suffered for some time, in his last days had tortured him grievously, but, there are indications that he was poisoned.

I would suggest limiting your proposed change to a discussion on the talk page of that article, or simply continuing your discussion above. Thanks! Hiberniantears 14:44, 3 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hello. If really you aren't a sockpuppet I'll apologise and of course unblock you, but we've had a lot of problems with an extremely persistent sockpuppeter who has the exact same editing interests you have, so the suspicion is pretty strong. You were repeating his precise edits on Ottoman Empire. Can you contact me by e-mail? Fut.Perf. 08:20, 5 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

How can I send you an e-mail? Warsword 11:23, 5 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Go to Special:Preferences and enter your own e-mail address, check the box that says "Allow other users to e-mail me"; answer the automatic confirmation mail you receive after a few moments; then go to Special:Emailuser/Future Perfect at Sunrise and you'll find the wiki-internal webmail facility. Thanks, and sorry for the inconvenience. Fut.Perf. 11:43, 5 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
