April 2012

Please do not write an article about yourself, as you apparently did at Waqidi Falicoff, Music Career. Creating an autobiography is strongly discouraged – see our guideline on writing autobiographies. If you create such an article, it may be deleted. If what you have done in life is genuinely notable and can be verified according to our policy for articles about living people, someone else will probably create an article about you sooner or later (see Wikipedians with articles). Please understand that this is an encyclopedia and not a personal web space or social networking site. Issues with biographical article

• I've noticed that the same text is here where it is marked as Copyright Muswell Hill Music. If that company is yours, then there is a process you can go through to donate the material to Wikipedia: see WP:DCM. But that is the most urgent aspect to resolve, as the article as it stands is in breach.
• It is also worth noting that the wording as it stands would almost certainly be heavily pruned to fit the needs of Wikipedia rather than a website biog though. So there is the question of whether you would be comfortable with that.
• Wikipedia also doesn't publish original research, hence facts in an article - especially a biography - need to be referenced to reliable 3rd party sources. I had a quick look for some and drew a blank, but the name variation may be the issue there. One place a subject can assist objectively on their own biography is that they are more likely to be able to identify and add such sources - either straight into the article or onto its Talk page.
• The article title is sub-optimal: the most obvious change would be to "Waqidi Falicoff" though I think either "Ken Faliks" or "William Faliks" would serve better, as the name used in the period in question? And hence the name for which any search in books on the 1960s would be more likely to succeed.
• Stylistically, if someone has name-changed mid-career I generally think it is better to use the earlier name up to the point of change (e.g. Sonny Blount until he became Sun Ra). But that's a detail, though again it helps with reference verification.

• I will remove the reference to "www.muswellhillmusic.com". I only did this as I was using the template from another Wikipdedia article on Hamilton Canmp. I assumed that what ever was on this site met the requirements of Wikipedia.
• Is it ok to leave the reference to the webpage in the citation secction? Please advise
• I have no problem pruning the article. I based the level on content on other pages I have viewed.
• The citations provide support for key "claims" in the article. I was going to do them by references in the text but was trying to remember how to do it. I planned to complete this in the next day or so. You can see in the citations that I reference the Internet Broadway Database which lists me as the co-composer for Story Theatre. (I could provide even more proof)I provided the reference in book of Composer for my claim that I was the first composer of the film George Dumpson's place. I provided a reference on a website that lists all the performances by Jackson Browne where he states that he opened for Hamilton Camp and the True Brethren. I provided a link to a banner showing that in 1970 that Doug Dillard and Gene Clark opened at the Troubadour. I provided the reviews in the Stony Brook newspaper showing that I was playing at two venues. On "my website" I provide a photo in the blog section showing me playing guitar with Hamilton Camp in late 1970. With regard to the Murray Roman Show reference unfortunately I cannot find references to prove this. I can prune out anything that is not supported by a reputable third party source.
• My legal name when I was a professional in this field was Waqidi Falicoff. That is the legal name associated with my work on the Broadway Show and my contracts with EMI music. Granted I had used my earlier names when I was a published songwriter for Peermusic but that has been updated in their database. It should be obvious that most notable accomplishment was for the Broadway Show and therefore that should be the name for the article. It should be clear that I was not trying to write a bio about myself and was simply trying to narrow it to music. I did not want to confuse the reader. As you see I did provide some info that my career was not only in the music business but only in one sentence.
• I simply don't agree with you on this point of what name to use. Let us take the case of Hamilton Camp. He started out as Bob Camp with Gibson & Camp. Then changed his name to Hamilton Camp and then finally Hamid Camp. We shared a similar spiritual path. He is most famous using the name Hamilton and that is what is used in the Wikipedia article. We can take the case of Krishna Das. When I played with him on a Stony Brook University concert his name was Jeff Kagel. He is famous with his latter name of Krishna Das. Why would the Wikipedia article use Jeff Kagel even though he played music under that name at one time.

• I don't disagree on the last 2 points - simply trying to ensure that articles are held under the most likely search name by a casual user of the encyclopaedia. AllyD (talk) 20:38, 9 April 2012 (UTC)

• I will prune out the article to only items that are supported by reliable sources. I only ask that the article on me be held to the same standards of musical bios on Wikipedia. I presume that you don't need "proof" of such things as my birth, wife's name etc. I do not mean to be sarcastic. There are obviously things on Wikipedia article which should not require such level of documentation (I guess unless you are the President of the US- just a joke).

• Some people can indulge in the strangest vandalism. There is someone who occasionally changes a bunch of years of birth of early jazz musicians, adds made-up middle names etc. I don't know why they bother, but it is a pain to identify and fix, and emphasises the value of sourcing out to reliable articles outside Wikipedia for as much as possible. • I have pruned much of the article based on my proposed approach above. I will add specific references as soon as I figure out how to do them. Please confirm whether or not I can leave the citation to my music webpage, as it has original documents and photos that support the statements in this Wikipedia article.

• To avoid misunderstanding, there's nothing wrong with including an External Link to a subject's official website. The problem I was mentioning above was that the text was identical to that contributed to the Wikipedia article - but was marked as Copyright, whereas Wikipedia uses Wikipedia:Text of Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 Unported License. • The copyright sign must have come over when I copied the template from Camp's page. In any case I have removed the reference to the website (except as a reference in one instance)and extensively pruned the article. I am trying to correct the mistakes made on the Broadway Show. Even now I keep seeing mistakes cropping up. There were several errors even in the book on the subject by the director of Story Theatre, Paul Sills. I pointed out these errors to him but unfortunately he passed away before anything could be done about.
• I am not sure how to handle my contract with EMI. I assume there is no need to post a copy of a now expired contract from 1975. I doubt anyone has been asked to provide such documentation on Wikipedia. I think the best proof of this is on my official website which has the recordings from that time.
• I hope you approve of my attempts to meet the Wikipedia standards
