Tijuana Brass edit

Welcome!

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the Newcomers help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{helpme}} on your user page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I noticed you are known only as an IP address; that means you are not signed up. To sign up, you only need to click Create account and choose a username and password. You don't need to provide any personal information. If you sign up, you'll have a username that others can use to recognize you and leave you messages on the wiki. You'll be able to sign your name just by typing four tildes (~~~~) when you leave someone else a message. Plus, you (and others) will easily be able to see a list of all your contributions to Wikipedia.

If you have any questions, see the help pages, ask at the Village pump, or feel free to ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! Tijuana Brass¡Épa!-E@ 04:20, 12 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

October 2008 edit

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to make constructive contributions to Wikipedia, at least one of your recent edits, such as the one you made to Snoop Dogg, did not appear to be constructive and has been removed. Please use the sandbox for any test edits you would like to make, and read the welcome page to learn more about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Please do not remove warnings; it will not help you if you are being considered for a block. Perhaps you felt my warning was in error? I was basing it upon this edit. Unschool (talk) 05:13, 22 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

It's my talk page and I'll edit it if I want to. I don't know why popups changed Snoop Dogg to a vandalized version. What popups showed me was a blanked page. That is what I was trying to fix.

By all means, edit the page however you wish. My thinking was simply as follows: The record showed you blanked a page, and I warned you as I would anyone else. Then you removed the warning from your talk page. Not knowing if you're a newbie or not, I tried let you know that most experience editors frown upon an editor removing warnings from your talk pages. You see, since you've actually picked a name, unlike a drive-by anon editor, I assume you want to be taken seriously. And if that's what you want, you should not remove anything (other than obvious vandalism) from your talk page. If it gets too long, archive it. If another editor has placed an unjustified warning on your page, let them know what has happened, and ask them to remove it. It just looks better. What you did might make some editors think that you were foolish enough to think that you can cover up the record of the warning, which of course you can't. But if you want to remove it, you're right, it's your page. Unschool (talk) 04:56, 23 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

You are too kind (really) edit

Thank you for the dual compliments. I really don't deserve them because . . .

a) I have made mistakes like that before and have been taught by other editors to be civil and patient. Frankly, learning to get along with others on Wikipedia can make someone into a nicer person—it has me, and the credit goes to other more experienced and wiser editors than I.
b) My user page consists of graphical pieces that I copied from other editors and put together on my page. Very little in terms of its "look" is an original creation of mine. And here again, you put me to shame, because you gave me credit, whereas I did nothing to thank the people from whom I took my ideas.

So you're off to a good start in terms of your editing, your ettiquette, and your overall Wikiness. Welcome again, and I'm sure we'll see each other around again. Cheers! Unschool (talk) 05:42, 24 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

But you put those pieces together and made something that I think looks nice, and saved me lots of working trying to figure out how to make it look like that. Thanks again! W8TVI (talk) 05:48, 24 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
