Talk:Frank Broyles. The chart on Broyles coaching record contains an error. It shows that Arkansas finished first in the Southwest Conference in 1961 and went to the Sugar Bowl.Actually Arkansas and Texas were co-champions. If Arkansas had won outright, they would have been obligated to go to the Cotton Bowl. Each had conference record of 6-1 with Texas beating Arkansas 33-7 and losing to TCU 0-6 (they were ranked No.1 in the country going into the TCU game). Both articles can't be right.<>Reply

It has taken me this long to see your Teahouse request but if there is a controversy, you certainly can't use your memory as a source. You'll have to find sources with each version and figure out what is right.— Vchimpanzee • talk • contributions • 21:08, 24 December 2018 (UTC)Reply

The references posted below are the URLs for 1) a National Football Foundation web page that shows that Arkansas was Southwest Conference co-champions in 1961; 2)a web page that list every University of Arkansas conference championship from 1936 to the present. Note that it shows that the Razorbacks were Southwest Conference co-champions in 1961; and 3)a web page that lists every University of Texas conference championship from 1913 to the present. Note that it shows that the Longhorns were Southwest Conference co-champions in 1961.

I was unable to past the URLs as links.

I just saw this. Looking at the Wikipedia articles on the subject, Arkansas did in fact go to the Sugar Bowl, and Texas went to the Cotton Bowl. The conference standings do show Texas and Arkansas were tied in the conference, but Texas had the better overall record. Maybe Texas got to go to the Cotton Bowl based on their overall recorded even though they were tied in the conference. Wait, if Texas beat Arkansas, that could also have been a tiebreaker.
Okay, I see the problem now. I guess people can discuss what to do.— Vchimpanzee • talk • contributions • 18:39, 31 December 2018 (UTC)Reply
