Bill Andrews

I have added a "{{prod}}" template to the article Bill Andrews, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. The article Sparkleball has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This was done because the article seemed to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it did not indicate how or why the subject is notable, that is, why an article about that subject should be included in Wikipedia. Little context in Cuplight

I would be happy to help with your Sparkleball article, but there is still a chance that it may be considered unnotable and deleted. However, this will be less likely if there are sources backing up your information. I would suggest that you look for sources on the internet, such as the ones I listed above, so the information can be verified. You can then start writing the article, making sure to list your sources at the end, and I'll look it over to see if it can be improved. Yes they can be rather arcane... If you have questions I can probably answer most of them; I've been here for a while. By the way, I removed the external link you added to List of basic craft topics pertaining to Sparkleball. This article is essentially a list of craft topics that have coverage here at Wikipedia; that is these have their own articles here. External links shouldn't appear in that list. Categories

These are not my forte... I barely ever categorize stuff. Wikipedia:Categorization has some info. Basically you just need to find the logical categories you want to add. For example, I just added [[Category:Women anthropologists]] to the article. I found this category by searching for Category:Anthropology. That led me to Category:Anthropologists and finally to Category:Women anthropologists. Let me know if you need more info.--Isotope23 ^talk 20:17, 31 July 2007 (UTC)

Only when we are online already...

Replying to your new questions, I'd suggest just removing the {{context}} template and then just leaving a message on the article talkpage stating that you added context and removed the tag... if anyone wants to contest this they can add it back and leave a reason why there needs to be more context on the talkpage. You don't have to sign your edit in the article; you really never want to sign your edits in articles. I'd sign the talkpage notice stating you removed the tag though. No, but now I have. Remember, that for new users, the corridors of Wikipedia are massively labrinthian. I thought I had done what I was supposed to based on past submissions. (removing tag, etc.) But now that I've stumbled across your checklist, I will do my best to comply. Wikipedia is the survival of the patient and the diligent. Category help

Try here: Wikipedia:Categorization. Basically, you add category at the bottom of the article using double brackets [[category:stuff]] would add an article to the category stuff. Vgranucci 19:14, 17 October 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for your confidence but I'm not quite sure how Google picks up Wiki articles. I suspect that words within the article are not high on Google's priority list for updating and it may therefore take a little while to filter through. Copyright

Copyright is a tricky issue, and I am still struggling with it. In this case, the photographer is the copyright owner rather than Day and even Day's permission may not be good enough. If you know the name of the photographer, it's probably OK if you credit him in the caption - have a look at [[Image:Annie2007small.jpg]] for a similar one I uploaded. Meanwhile, this page gives some possibilities for usable copyright tags: Wikipedia:Image_copyright_tags/Displayed_and_ranked. OK, if you go to the Annie image page, edit it & copy the copyright tags (you'll need both of them) onto the image page for DouglasDay.jpg, that should fix it. Duplicate images uploaded

I don't think the categories get updated immediately, I've just checked Alex Finlayson and she turns up in the Wesley College alumnae but is not yet in American Playwrights & Dramatists. I'd wait and see a couple of days. As to the Wikify box influencing search engines, I doubt it, I've never heard that before. 1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
