Introduction

Outapi war museum it is situated underground in the area that was occupied by former South African Regime Amy Base in the town called Outapi, Outapi came from “Outa Pii” which means the Bow and Arrow is the best. People in the past use to call this place “Ohatopi” base. This base was discovered in 1975 and it become the house of South African during the Bush war, this Bush war last of 23 years because it started in 1966 to 1989 people living without they rights.

Base

This Base has handled a large number of people especially the PLAN and the armed wing of SWAPO. This base was deserted by the SADF in 1989 leading the achievement of the resolution 435.Due to the commercial purposes this base was destroyed and a lot of infrastructures were destroyed. Outapi museum was developed by the society because they want to keep up the history, so that the next generation will use it as a result this war museum is very unique in Namibia


Purposes

Outapi war museum it is used as a multipurpose because it can be used as the tourisms and the Historical Information those are the major activities used in the war museum. There are newly established structures such as:

  1. café
  2. conference hall
  3. internet café bed and breakfast (accommodation).

There is also refreshment area with the restaurant, gymnasium with the swimming pool and the most remarkable structure is the war materials that have its section created so that people can be show which type equipment/weapons were used during the time of war. If people want more information about the war they can also visit this section because it can provide posters, photographs, and personal information about people who were victim to the war. People who era in charge of this they are planning to lend equipment such as Casper, artillery,Anti-aircraft gun and weapons used.
