HSL/HSV videos

edit

I liked your HSL/HSV animations, but (a) I think they end up a bit misleading because the HSL and HSV models as expressed by coordinates are both cylindrical, not conical, and (b) it’s pretty hard to tell what is going on in the middle of the shape. I wonder if you could make a version that follows all the way to the cylinders as in File:Hsl-and-hsv.svg, and perhaps also includes a slice cut away so the inside can be seen. –jacobolus (t) 04:26, 12 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

All right, I will edit the animations, adding the expansion as the second step. I believe that the conical shape is an important intermediate step, as it can be reached by continuous distortion and is visually convenient, as HSV and HSL degenerate at the minimal V and both minimal and maximal L correspondingly. Concerning the cut I would consider cutting 1/3 of the S range, probably keeping colorful edges in the removed part. Or if you have other ideas, please, share.
