re: Image:DCAU.jpg edit

OK... I'm at a slight loss here, what was the change made to the file so that "in theory, [it] won't degrade the image as much on the articles."? It looks visually and size-wise the same as the one I had uploaded. - J Greb 06:06, 30 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Well you see, the newly reduced image you uploaded looked slightly degraded when forced to a smaller size (which articles tend to do), so both of the articles that used it weren't getting the best visual effect. In the name of article beautification, I had a friend with a degree in this particular field go over the image and smooth it out in a very basic way, so as to appear less degraded. I had him do it in such a way that the file size and whatnot is completely unchanged, but there is a difference, albeit only a small one.
The change was designed to soften the image, to make it appear more like the original screenshot that was uploaded. So there you have it, not a major change, but a change that will keep me from agonizing over the image. I can't stand when Wiki forces us to sacrifice visual quality for a drastically reduced size, so this is my happy medium. --Venomaru 2.0 11:46, 30 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

DCAU as part of new Multiverse edit

I'm curious: what makes you think they're joking about the DCAU being the first universe to be destroyed? Doesn't seem like they're joking to me. Anakinjmt 01:34, 26 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Well two reasons really, the DC animated universe is a a beloved 15+ year animated continuity, there's nothing else out there like it, and to those who love it, it's the DC universe. If they're not willing to anger the "Gotham by Gaslight" universe continuity by destroying that world (an ultimately insignificant universe)... then they're definitely not going to destroy one that's as important to the fanbase as the DCAU. Second of all, huge comic book publishers don't spoil MAJOR events like that. If they did destroy it for real, they certainly wouldn't announce it beforehand. That's like DC coming out and revealing that Sue Dibny was raped before the end of Identity Crisis. They just don't reveal those sort of things beforehand. --Venomaru 2.0 01:42, 26 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom elections are now open! edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
