Garuda - Dubai edit

I believe the source provided says that the airline will shift the stopover on the AMS-CGK route from DXB to AUH thus ending the stop in DXB completely. Also, the Dubai-Jakarta segment is no longer bookable after 2 December 2012 on their website. Dubai serves as a stopover point for AMS-CGK. 68.113.122.83 (talk) 16:35, 18 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

The Jakarta-Amsterdam route makes a stop in Dubai or future Abu Dhabi and that route operates under 1 flight number GA87/88. Therefore, Dubai will be terminated completely as like I said before the Jakarta-Dubai route is no longer bookable on their website. 68.113.122.83 (talk) 04:34, 20 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

Here is the source that the Dubai route will be stopped: http://en.bisnis.com/articles/garuda-indonesia-stops-dubai-route. 68.113.122.83 (talk) 04:35, 20 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

Is this proof enough for you??? http://www.garuda-indonesia.com/gi_us/News/Garuda+Indonesia+Etihad+Airways+Sign+Codeshare+Agreement.page http://airlineroute.net/2012/10/16/gaey-w12/. Also, GA's CGK-AMS is not nonstop (makes a stop in DXB when the airline commenced the route: http://www.nationmultimedia.com/2009/11/11/regional/regional_30116346.php) 68.113.122.83 (talk) 19:48, 21 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

yes, you don't bother to check the airline's website. You look up the flight from CGK to AMS, you see that it is one stop! After 2 December 2012, look up the flight from CGK to DXB, there are no flights found! Not even other flight numbers. I suggest you take this up to the talk page or the project page! 166.147.120.23 (talk) 17:09, 22 October 2012 (UTC)Reply
I'm well aware of that (and if you've read my discussion between 166.147.120.23 (talk), which I'm sure you have, I've stated that I know it's not a non-stop flight and other technical information regarding the flight) As I've said to 166.147.120.23 (talk) yesterday, airlines are free to designate flight numbers to their operations and this is usually based on where the flight terminates. All technical/emergency stop-over will still operate under the same number as long as it terminates on the pre-defined destination (in this case, AMS) Examples: QF operates QF09/10 on their MEL-SIN-LHR-SIN-MEL route and will still use QF9/10 when they shift operations to MEL-DXB-LHR-DXB-MEL. A few weeks ago, an EK flight bound for BKK diverted to HYD due to medical reason. Both DXB-HYB and HYB-BKK sector still operates under the same EK384 number.
As to your statement regarding the GDS inormation, I've actually answered them in the discussion (please read through the whole discussion if possible.) Garuda will shift CGK-AMS operations to CGK-AUH-AMS instead of CGK-DXB-AMS. They, however, did not state whether all operations to and from DXB will be terminated completely or temporarily halted. Without that statement, there's still a widely open possibility that Garuda will open CGK-DXB as a standalone flight in the near-future (Considering the fact that their load-factor on the CGK-DXB sector are usually 80-90% while DXB-AMS sector are <70% and worse now due to EU crisis). In fact, I'll ask you a question in return: If DXB is truly terminated, why is it still listed as a destination in Garuda's GDS? (despite the fact that no flights are available) Two possibilities ran into my mind: Their IT crew have once again managed to impress me with their neglection (not a real word, I know), or they have done so on purpose. The first one doesn't impress me as they've bothered to add AUH as a destination in the first place.
I hope I have satisfied your questions and clearly explained my opinions regarding this matter. I have no problem if you decide to bring this matter to the talk page/project page of the article if you want or feel the need to. Regards, Vandreadstriker (talk) 09:38, 23 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

I'd say we leave it as it is or remove the ending date for DXB for right now until December when they make the switch. As you said, the sources only mention they will shift operations but not said anything about terminating. They also did not say anything about making CGK-DXB nonstop (i read a source saying they are planning to but they are waiting on the codeshare/partnership with ET)...i'd say wait for an official news source or press release from Garuda saying such. Snoozlepet (talk) 03:42, 25 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

Yes, I have not touched the article in question ever since the start of this discussion, but I think someone has changed it since my last visit. Regardless, I'll not touch the article until Garuda or other reputable source releases further statement, and I think it's best if someone else remove the ending date like you've proposed as I am the one being questioned regarding the matter. Thank You. Regards, Vandreadstriker (talk) 15:32, 26 October 2012 (UTC)Reply
I just think is best to just leave it alone and wait. Garuda will release information about the future of CGK-DXB-CGK route eventually, if there is a source of any kind then we can feel free to change or replace it. Thanks! Snoozlepet (talk) 21:10, 26 October 2012 (UTC)Reply
