I'm sorry I wasn't able to change your mind. If you have any specific issues that you'd care to discuss further, I am open for discussion. Kelly Martin (talk) 20:49, 10 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

Wikimedia Canada

edit

Hi there! I'd like to invite you to explore Wikimedia Canada, and create a list of people interested in forming a local chapter for our nation. A local chapter will help promote and improve the organization, within our great nation. We'd also like to encourage everyone to suggest projects for our national chapter to participate in. Hope to see you there! -- user:zanimum

Montréal vs Montreal

edit

Hey oh. Was having a last look at my watchlist before going offline for a few weeks and I saw that you changed the spelling of the Montréal region in the Quebec template. I have no opinion how English-speaking people spell the name of the region, but just wanted to make sure: have you considered that the "Montréal" used in the template is not the name of a city, but the name of an administrative region of the province of Quebec? From there on I let you do what you think is best and turn off my computer. ;-) --Valmi 16:44, 28 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hey oh.  :) Of course I considered that. The template contains links to both the region (Montréal) and to the city (Montreal). I only changed the spelling of the city link. Now both the region and the city references within the template reflect the spellings of their respective articles. I hope that explanation helps. Skeezix1000 18:00, 28 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

Participant alert regarding Wikiproject on Advertising

edit

The Wikiproject No Ads, created as a backlash against the Answers.com deal, has served an important function in providing a space for users to express their disagreement with the Foundation proposal. While the current controversies about userboxes raise questions about political and social advocacy on Wikipedia, there should be greater flexibility regarding advocacy about Wikipedia in the Wikipedia namespace. Reported and linked by Slashdot and other press sources as a unique and spontaneous occurence in Wikipedia history, it has apparently had some impact as, despite being scheduled to begin in January, not a peep has been heard about the trial and proposed sponsored link since the deal's controversial announcement months ago. Currently, however, there is an attempt to delete the project or move it off Wikipedia altogether. Since the Foundation has provided no additional information and has not attempted to answer the specific questions that participants in the project raised, it is unclear if the Answers.com deal has been abandoned or simply delayed. Until the situation becomes more clear, I believe the group should still have a place in the Wikipedia namespace. Sincerely, Tfine80 00:30, 10 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hi, I'm going through missourced images at wikinews. Did you get images in n:Hospitality exchange organisation grows to 100,000 members offline, or online? If online where is the url. If offline, how did you get permission for them? Bawolff 05:08, 27 January 2007 (UTC) P.S. please contact me on my talk page at wikinews, or at #wikinews-en on freenode. Fair use rationale for Image:Asterix-Obelix.gif

edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Asterix-Obelix.gif. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ShakespeareFan00 08:58, 25 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Non-free use disputed for Image:Asterix-Main_Gaul_characters.jpeg

  This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Asterix-Main_Gaul_characters.jpeg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read carefully the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content and then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ShakespeareFan00 08:59, 25 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
