editSimplistically avocado toast is mashed or sliced avocado with salt, pepper, and lemon juice on various types of toasted bread. Though many chefs, food bloggers, and home cooks have started adding other elements such as poached eggs, salmon, strawberries and feta. Becoming a popular snack, breakfast and lunch it has grown in trend in 2014 and 2015. According to Lauren Oyler from Broadly., it has" become a regular feature in the bourgeoisie's diet.” The popularization can be attributed to Gwyneth Paltrow, lifestyle guru and actress, in her cookbook It’s All Good. Paltrow wrote, "it’s the holy trinity of Vegenaise, avocado and salt that makes this like a favorite pair of jeans — so reliable and easy and always just what you want.” An easy transitional food staple for any diet, from vegan to gluten free, the exact origin of the fruit on toast is unknown. Many countries where avocado is abundant has been thought to have put the fruit on toast, tostada, and corn chips for decades. Though many, such as The Washington Post, speculate it was derived from, Sydney( Australia) chef Bill Granger, as he was the first person to put avocado toast on his café menu in 1993. In 1999, Nigel Slater published a recipe for an avocado "bruschetta" in The Guardian," and Café Gitane is credited with bringing the dish to the United States in its' “Instagrammable” form. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Vaish200 (talk • contribs) 18:55, 13 February 2017 (UTC)
