No, because irradiance and radiant emittance really are the same thing as intensity (as defined on the latter page). They are all a measure of power per unit area. The link to the intensity article may provide useful information for people wanting to know more about this. These different terms for essentially the same quantity arise from different applications. Irradiance and radiant emittance are the proper terms in radiometry, for the power per unit area incident on or emitted from a surface, respectively. Intensity is the more typical term for both of these, in other areas of physics. One could in principle merge the articles, but it is better to keep them separate because the radiometric terms are confusing, and are better explained separately.--Srleffler 20:09, 27 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
