Managing a conflict of interest

edit

Hello, UAEinBerlin. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Germany–United Arab Emirates relations, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. — Trey Maturin 10:19, 10 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

Your account has been indefinitely blocked from editing because your account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia. Also, your username indicates that the account represents a business, organisation, group, or web site, which is against the username policy.

If you intend to make useful contributions instead of promoting your business or organization, you may request unblock and a username change. In your reasons, you must:

  • Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the paid-contribution disclosure requirement.
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
  • Provide a new username.

To do this, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked.

Please note that the new username you choose cannot already be taken and in use by another account. You can go here to search and see if the username you'd like to choose is available. If the search returns that no global account with that username exists, that means it is available to be taken.

Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page. 331dot (talk) 10:35, 10 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

I also propose to change my username to editsfromberlin23 UAEinBerlin (talk) 11:23, 10 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
You need to follow the instructions above to make an unblock request that will be seen, in which you propose a new username and discuss your editing. (use the first template described in the notice above). If you work for the UAE government or their Berlin embassy, that needs to be disclosed. 331dot (talk) 11:30, 10 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

This user's request to be unblocked to request a change in username has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without a good reason (see the blocking policy). Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Requested username:

Request reason:

I am employed by the UAE Embassy in Berlin. In the article on "Germany-United Arab Emirates relations" however, I intend to make only valuable, factual changes, contributing to updating the outdated information in the article. I do not have the intention of advertising or promoting neither the Embassy of the UAE in Berlin, nor any other organizations pertaining to the United Arab Emirates, nor is it my intention to share propagandist content - an intention which might have falsely been reflected in the choice of the initial user name. Hence, I understand the reasons for the initial block which I ask you to undo, as I am intending to add information on the bilateral relations in the political, economic, cultural spheres between the UAE and Germany. These are based on a variety of sources, including official authorities of both the UAE and the German governments, but mostly independent media articles, foundations, and many more. Decline reason:

The information that you added was promotional. Furthermore, Wikipedia is not interested in single purpose accounts, especially ones with a conflict of interest with the material they are editing. Z1720 (talk) 17:16, 11 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
