February 2024 edit

This account has been blocked for continued use of an alternative account for edits without a legitimate reason. Please read our policy on sockpuppetry on more details. You can still make edits from your main account Tonymetz (talk · contribs). 0xDeadbeef→∞ (talk to me) 09:54, 29 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

i had one for wikivoyage and one for wp and the logins were swapping Tonymet (talk) 14:13, 29 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
Can you list out the cases – I believe there were 2 and they were obvious accidental logins (replies a single thread ) . The usernames are nearly the same and the account has the “alt account disclosure “ Tonymet (talk) 14:15, 29 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
Just.. use your main account. I warned you on the 27th, you continued to make a series of edits on the 28th. See Special:Contributions/Tonymet. Using two accounts make it harder for people to contact you. Either choose one, or specify a username that clearly indicates why the alternative account exists, so people will not ping the wrong account. 0xDeadbeef→∞ (talk to me) 14:44, 29 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
I’m planning on using the main . Id like the accusation corrected though .WP:BITE . Tonymet (talk) 14:59, 29 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
I'm not accusing you of anything. The block is only to enforce you to not use the alt account, when you've continued to make edits from it despite my warning. 0xDeadbeef→∞ (talk to me) 15:07, 29 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
Im abiding by wp:socklegit for test accounts , explicit association etc and I did what was asked right away . Tonymet (talk) 15:15, 29 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
I'd move us forward if you would consider renaming your account to specify this purpose. Like User:Tonymetz (testing). 0xDeadbeef→∞ (talk to me) 15:27, 29 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
i had already put in TonyMetzAlt is that ok? Tonymet (talk) 15:40, 29 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
the rename has completed Tonymetz (talk) 18:04, 29 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

@0xDeadbeef: This "alt" account was used, after the block, warnings, and subsequent unblock to to make a significant edit to Computer security. Fred Zepelin (talk) 17:50, 3 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

Also pinging @Bbb23: as it appears Deadbeef is on a wikibreak. Fred Zepelin (talk) 18:09, 3 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

WP:SOCKLEGIT the account abides all the rules for security use now, alt declaration and clear alt naming. The sock case has been closed . If you have an agenda please just reopen a case . This is being received as hounding Tonymetz 💬 18:53, 3 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
Security: You may register an alternative account for use when accessing Wikipedia through a public computer, connecting to an unsecured network, or other scenarios when there's a risk of your account being compromised. Such accounts should be publicly connected to the main account or use an easily identified name. For example, User:Mickey might use User:Mickey (alt) or User:Mouse, and redirect that account's user and talk pages to their main account. Tonymetz 💬 19:05, 3 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
Two-factor authentication users: Users with two-factor authentication may not be able to log on from certain clients. Such users may create a second linked account such as User:Username (phone) or User:Username (mobile) Tonymetz 💬 19:18, 3 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
