Vanaja fire engine

Hi, thanks for the nice Vanaja fire engine photo. I am trying to identify the model. It is either VK (1950–1959) or VAK (1956–1961). What is sure, it has got a latest 1959 issued number plate (without white edges). The VK model fire engines were powered by Tampella 6000, Cadillac V8 1G or White 160AX engines. The VAK series used a Ford V8 or Bedford. The powerful Ford engines were the most typical ones in VAK fire engine applications. Hello, good to hear you found the picture worth keeping. I tried to identify the model myself, but there weren't too many helpful sources at hand. You know what, I'll make some calls tomorrow and try to get some more information. I know a person who was organizing the event where I photographed the Vanaja in question, he might just have some more information for us. By the way, the decal on the side says 'Kaukas' in it, so this could've originally served as a factory fire engine at UPM paper mill in Lappeenranta. All coloured Vanaja photos are more than welcome. There are hardly any photos of the last Vanaja models made between 1966–1971. Even the coverage of Sisu models is quite small; for example from M-series there is just one photo of a cranky looking unit.

Here is mentioned a 1951 Vanaja from Kaukas: [1]. If the vehicle in question is the same one it is VK model with most likely Cadillac engine. --Gwafton (talk) 21:30, 29 July 2013 (UTC)

I called mister Jari Karhu of Wilkjärven Winssikerho. He informed that the Vanaja in question is, to a fair extent of certainty, a VK model from 1952. It has originally served as a factory fire engine at UPM Kaukas (as the article you linked suggested) and is now owned by a person called Toni Tiihonen who works at the same factory. I have his address at hand if any further information is needed. Hope this was helpful. I'll update the information in the Commons description.

Oh by the way, did you happen to notice that that picture of the cranky M-series Sisu was actually taken by me? :D I'll take some more if I happen to encounter Sisus on my way, but the older ones are getting fairly rare. Tommi Nummelin (talk) 12:42, 30 July 2013 (UTC)

Good work. Would be good to have the complete model name (VK-2, VK-3...?) and maybe some history and technical data, as the engine, included in the description as well.

The cranky photo of the Sisu is definitely better than no photo at all. And the photo is good while the vehicle seems to need washing and ironing. If you want to get good captions of vintage lorries I think you should go to Vetku meetings. They had a meeting this summer in Sisu factory and they will have another meeting in October: [2]. Unfortunately, I cannot attend as I don't live in Finland and I rarely visit there, but I would be happy if you could get some proper decoration for the Sisu articles here. --Gwafton (talk) 19:17, 30 July 2013 (UTC)

Usage of content?

I noticed at least one of your photos File:Limanuljaskat.jpg is being used by Finnish iPhone App "Sienikirja" commercially. Yes it seems. Still, I don't believe it justifies why over half of the content is stolen from Wikipedia and claimed to be his. At least one would expect a blatant "Photos from Wikipedia" or similar. Also its facebook site he is offering rewards for positive reviews of the App in AppStore. And he is claiming this to be original idea, while at least the original sales text he copied quite directly from another app "Sieniopas" (released 2010). So a bit fishy in my books... Not surpricing. However the App was now removed from AppStore - apparently someone already made a complaint. However the author now has an another App Sienikirja Aloittelijoille although I'm not sure if your photo is used (haven't downloaded it). My friend asked the author directly and he claimed to have all permissions (there was a public question in their facebook and AppStore review but they were removed). In future, you can fill in DMCA takedown by Apple A bit heavy solution, but don't know what else to do if someone simply takes other peoples content and claims it is their ownZilppuri (talk) 15:58, 27 September 2014 (UTC)

God damn it. Any idea how I can find out if the picture is used or not? I wouldn't be willing to pay for the app (not that I'd have any iDeviced to begin with) and the author seems to be really uncooperative if he even removes the questions and leaves emails unanswered...Tommi Nummelin (talk) 17:50, 27 September 2014 (UTC)

I finally got a reply and he was willing to solve the problem. Told him that he should just provide attribution and link to the licence, at least in my case.
