Hi tolpuddle6,

This issue about Arthur's place and date of birth is irritating to us both, please let me know where you found his place and DOB as I need to contact the source (if an on line magazine article) and have the facts corrected? Usually literature on the man quotes his birth place incorrectly as Jamaica and his age is not 63, this is insulting to the person who this page is about. I think it is because of the blues, rock, reggae crossover bit, a wrong assumption based by some that to play this sort of music you have to be from the Caribbean.

Unfortunately my experience of working with artists who I know personally, is that often there is wrong information out on the web, Wikipedia and in books. It is true that early on the record companies leaned on the Jamaican connection as they thought it was a good hook with for the public they were targeting and Bob Marley was happening at the time, Marley was definitely Jamaican!

I am a fan of Wikipedia, otherwise I would not be doing this when requested, but this a good example where citations quote incorrect facts and I have therefore corrected the info box and elsewhere, making a more pointed statement about the nationality of his mother.

I would be grateful if you left the details as I have made them, as this is the truth and not based on misquoted quoted information.

If your feel strongly about this the I suggest that we leave the DOB and place of birth un-entered. It is a shame that Wikipedia relies so heavily on citations in an instance like this as I feel it erodes their credibility and the element of pure truth is dissolved.
