Articles for deletion nomination of Alertboot

I have nominated Alertboot, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Alertboot. Hi Haakon. Not sure where I'm supposed to post my responses for the discussion. Looks like in 3 different places? I was planning on editing the article more this week. Apparently, my starting point isn't so great. You have questions about the notability of the software. How can I assist here? I initially tried to mirror what Alertsec (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alertsec_Xpress) did in their article. (And I know I'm discouraged from referencing other articles when discussing this article.)

So, what are your suggestions? I've read the rules, but I'd appreciate your guidance about how to proceed. Thanks - Tim Timmaliyil (talk) 08:24, 11 January 2010 (UTC)

There is really only one approach, which is to add references to places where the product has received significant third-party coverage from reliable sources as described in the general notability guideline. Apologies, but that's still a little vague. What constitutes "significant coverage"? I've added a link from another company who references us. Should I include third-party references/reviews to Sophos here? Again, I hate to say it and I'm sure you hate to hear it, but that previously mentioned article/company offers comparable notability and references. Yes, I know you're looking at this article independently, but since they're the Coke to our Pepsi, it's a worthy comparison for notability. Thanks for the help so far. Significant coverage is defined by WP:GNG as: "Significant coverage" means that sources address the subject directly in detail, and no original research is needed to extract the content. Significant coverage is more than a trivial mention but it need not be the main topic of the source material. As per the same guideline, coverage has to be reliable and independent. The other article you reference is really no better, and I've taken the time to nominate it for deletion. You should not use our encyclopedia to battle for marketshare; as president of the company you should not edit Wikipedia on any matters relating directly to your company at all, as you have a very significant conflict of interest.
