Addition of external links edit

Welcome to Wikipedia. We invite everyone to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, the external links you added to the page Kadena Air Base do not comply with our guidelines for external links. Wikipedia is not a mere directory of links; nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, then please discuss it on the article's talk page before reinserting it. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. — ERcheck (talk) 05:14, 25 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Okinawa Prefecture. Wikipedia is not a mere directory of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam policy for further explanations. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, then please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. Thank you. — ERcheck (talk) 05:15, 25 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

ERCHECK - I understand now how you all are poised from wikipedia's perspective to "catch" or "block" spammers. I added this page to these sites as I found that webpage to be significant in providing more insight on each of those bases and what they offer. Thanks for the links in your notes, always learning better how to post info.

I will undoubtedly provide better insight, documentation, and information for any further links or information I post. Please tone down your vitriolic diatribe. Thanks.

Time2pcs: I'm sorry that you find the notes I've left to be a "vitriolic diatribe." The notes are in fact standard warning templates for repeated instances of spamming. Contributions to Wikipedia are welcome; but, some basic policies are in place that need to be followed.
The fact that your user name coincides with the external link that you were adding and that multiple instances of links were being added in such a short time are standard red flags that lead to being blocked from editing; and with as many instances as you had added, you could have been permanently blocked for spamming. (Please take some time to review Wikipedia policy on usernames. Your username coinciding with the website you are promoting makes it subject to being blocked.
I assumed that you were not aware of Wikipedia policies, I provided the standard warnings, rather than blocking you from editing.
If you have questions with regard to editing or policies, please feel free to ask. — ERcheck (talk) 00:00, 26 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
