Kyle Lerner

edit

I have added a "{{prod}}" template to the article Kyle Lerner, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Sorry, but the subject doesn't meet the notability requirements which are set very high for bands and singers. This is a tertiary source of information, meaning any subject has to be widely known. In short, it's a lousy advertising/promotional medium, believe me. --PMDrive1061 (talk) 23:26, 5 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

I should also point out that your username suggests that you are the subject of the article. That alone is a conflict of interest. --PMDrive1061 (talk) 23:27, 5 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

You'll be happy to know that nothing here is actually lost. It's just not visible unless you're an administrator or a bureaucrat. Since your e-mail is active, I can mail you a copy. "Fact" isn't the issue, but "notability" is. --PMDrive1061 (talk) 23:40, 5 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

I understand, but to cite your example, Britney Spears wouldn't have rated an article when she first started out. No performer would have. I like to put it this way: If Wikipedia were around in 1958 and someone wrote about The Beatles getting their start in and around Liverpool, they wouldn't have rated an article either. I'm sort of notable in my line of work, but I'm simply not notable on a global scale whereas Britney Spears is. I wish I could be of more help, but "wanting to be famous" simply doesn't meet the notability requirements. It's great you've done work with the Chili Peppers and it sounds as if you're off to a great start. I went ahead and e-mailed you the article, wiki markups and all. I honestly wish you luck. --PMDrive1061 (talk) 00:01, 6 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Welcome!

Hello, Thelerner15, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, one of your contributions does not conform to Wikipedia's Neutral Point of View policy (NPOV). Wikipedia articles should refer only to facts and interpretations that have been stated in print or on reputable websites or other forms of media.

There's a page about the NPOV policy that has tips on how to effectively write about disparate points of view without compromising the NPOV status of the article as a whole. If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{helpme}} on your user page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Here are a few other good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date.
