Hi. No, you're not being hostile at all. Bands have to meet a very high threshhold of notability before they can be included. A relatively local band with a single EP doesn't quite meet the requirements. WP:BAND can tell you more. I hope this doesn't discourage you from future contributions. The article was laid out very well. In fact, give me a moment and I'll recreate it here for your convenience. --PMDrive1061 (talk) 02:39, 29 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Affliction was an alternative rock band from Rotherham, England, active between 2006 and 2008, and are currently on hiatus. Despite a large following of fans from the local and surrounding areas, their only release was a 4-track demo CD, entitled "Unavailable In All Major Retailers". They were one of the 'second generation' bands to be based primarily from Brinsworth, Rotherham, the first generation of bands being 'Silverhead' and 'From The Wreckage'. 'From The Wreckage' Contained 4 of the 5 members of Affliction, before the lead guitarist left to form a doomed solo project.

Demo CD

edit

'Unavailable In All Major Retailers' was recorded at The old corn mill studio in Sheffield, which is owned By Gerry trew, a manager, producer and rod stuart tribute act, and Nova Casper, a vocal coach and multi talented singer. It was recorded in early 2008, in a single day, for £150. The day was booked for 12 hours, but due to the drummers inability to play to a metronome, it took 17 hours from arriving to the final mix.
In true rock star fashion, the five members left during mix down to go to a bar with the studio owners daughter. 'UIAMR' retailed at £5, and was a minor success in the local area.

Track List
1 - Take flight (4:41)
2 - Asphyxiation (3:24)
3 - A Fool's Game (3:18)
4 - Warfare (4:02)

Radio Appearance

edit

On the 21st of february 2008, Affliction appeared on the popular student radio station, Sheffield Live at midday. Most of the band had to skive college or work to attend, and all members made it. The interview was posted upon the sheffield live podcast site, but the download link now appears to be dead. During the interview all four tracks from UIAMR were played.

Hiatus

edit

In August 2008, the band played their last gig to date with 'Silverhead' at Outo Kumpo sports club. the event was organised by a local DJ in honour of 'Ferret's' birthday. Andy Kelemen was otherwise occupied on the evening, and so was replaced on bass by 'Chris the Ferret'. After this, the lead singer, 'Stephen Logan' decided to go to university. The remaining members, minus Andy, went on to form 'Before The Epiphany' With Dan 'Foxy' Fox and Jaime Gulliver. BTE's sound is likened to Early Funeral For A Friend.
