hey nice name DyslexicEditor 22:12, 14 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Please stop adding commercial links to Wikipedia, as you did in Russian Revolution of 1917. It is considered spamming, and Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising. Thanks. —xyzzyn 07:39, 18 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Please stop. If you continue to use Wikipedia for advertising, as you did in Enneagram, you will be blocked from editing. —xyzzyn 10:33, 3 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

I am requesting to be unblocked

This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Request reason:

The external links I added that caused the blocking are quite relevant to the G. I. Gurdjieff page they were added to. See the reasoning in the message sent to the blocking admin Kylu below. Thanks.

Decline reason:

You don;t seem to be contributing to the project with the exception of wasting other editors time spamming external links. — Spartaz Humbug! 18:01, 8 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

I have contacted Kylu and he had no problem having this account reinstated given our reasoning. See below:

The links to gurdjeff-legacy.org do not reasonably belong on dozens of various articles across numerous topics (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/TheFourthWay for the dozens of instances of this) nor do the links to mesoamericas.com.

If you'd like to have the account unblocked, I'd like to request you consider the following steps:

1. Read through Wikipedia's External Links policy, available at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WP:EL 2. Forward this note, along with your agreement to limit your external link adding per the above policy, to unblock-en-l@lists.wikimedia.org 3. Please wait for an administrator to respond from that list and unblock the account, they don't need to check with me for permission. Even a summary unblock with no reasoning is fine with me.

Following these steps are not mandatory, and you can simply contact the unblock-en-l mail list to request unblocking anyway, but it would be a sign of good faith, and would be reasonable assurance to us that the account to be unblocked will abide by our site policies and be a positive contributor to our encyclopedia and the Wikipedia community.

If there are further complications, or you simply have other questions on how to best contribute to the project, please feel free to contact me again. I wish you luck in your endeavors and happy editing!

~ Kylu

From: TheFourthWay To: Kylu Sent: Monday, August 20, 2007 2:20:51 PM Subject: External Links on G. I. Gurdjieff page and TheFourthWay account block

August 20, 2007

Kylu:

Our account named TheFourthWay was blocked by you after we posted two external links which were subsequently removed by you on the G. I. Gurdjieff page on August 4, 2007. Both external links are quite relevant to G. I. Gurdjieff and the teaching of The Fourth Way he brought and embodied.

The first link was to the article "Who is Gurdjieff?" which was an address given by William Patrick Patterson at the first "All & Everything" conference in England in 1996. In case you are not aware, "All & Everything" is the trilogy of books Gurdjieff himself wrote. The address explores the question of who Gurdjieff really is and is therefore directly relevant to the Gurdjieff Wikipedia page. The article is free to view at http://www.gurdjieff-legacy.org/40articles/bognor.htm as is the archive of Fourth Way articles published in the "The Gurdjieff Journal."

The second link removed was to "The Gurdjieff Journal" page. "The Gurdjieff Journal," established in 1992, is the first international and domestic journal devoted exclusively to Gurdjieff’s Fourth Way. It is published triannually and contains interviews, book excerpts, essays, book and film reviews and more and in itself does not carry advertising. It relies solely on the support of its readership. The Gurdjieff Journal is devoted exclusively to G. I. Gurdjieff's teaching of The Fourth Way and contains original research and points of view.

Of the then existing and current external links on the Gurdjieff Wikipedia page, 5 of the 8 have links to adverting or promotion or are questionable. For example:

1. The link "Gurdjieff entry in Dictionary of Gnosis and Western Esotericism" is part of the same site that offers books for sale and study groups under its "Contact Us".

2. The "Gurdjieff International Review" links to articles and they have a bookstore selling their journal. Some of these articles are excerpts only and the reader has to pay for the rest.

3. "Chronology of Gurdjieff's Life" is on the same site as the link "Gurdjieff entry in Dictionary of Gnosis and Western Esotericism" offering books for sale and study groups.

4. A questionable link is "Gurdjieff connection to Gomidas" as there are no references and no direct connection mentioned. Also, there are links to promoting specific books for sale.

5. "G. I. Gurdjieff articles" is peppered with Google ads on the left side and bottom like Gurdjieff-Ouspensky Ctrs (Fellowship of Friends) which has now reinvented itself as The Art of Divine Presence with no substantive study of Gurdjieff or The Fourth Way, etc.

Given the existing content of the external links and the quality and exclusive aim of the content of the two external links we posted it seems unreasonable to have removed our links and then block our account. We request the block on our account be removed and that we be allowed to post both of the following links:

http://www.gurdjieff-legacy.org/40articles/bognor.htm

http://www.TheGurdjieffJournal.Com

Please review both links as the articles and information contained are directly relevant to G. I. Gurdjieff, and get back to me as quickly as possible. This is an important issue that needs to be resolved and which we are firmly committed to seeking its resolution.
