2/6th East Surrey Regiment

edit

Hi Terry. Thank you for your contribution to the section on the 2/6th East Surrey and drawing attention to the web page on Lt Col J G M B Gough which is useful and interesting additional material. The way I read the web page on Gough though suggests to me that he was 2IC 1st Bn The Suffolk Regiment on D-Day and not 2/6th East Surreys. Although the wikipedia article on the Suffolks does not refer to this action, a quick google shows that they were certainly there. [1][2][3] Do you have any other material to suggest that the 2/6th were in action as a discrete Battalion during the Normandy landings?

You have accidentally broken the preceding reference in the East Surrey article so I presume you are still coming to terms with the syntax of the cite web template. Please have a go at fixing this yourself but I'm happy to help if you need a hand. -- KenBailey (talk) 21:27, 26 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Just to add that the article on Lt Col R Goodwin later Lieut General Sir Richard Goodwin, referred to in the web page you cite, only refers to him commanding the Suffolks. -- KenBailey (talk) 07:11, 27 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
I have removed your contribution for the reasons above but if you can provide more supporting evidence that that contradicts the official record then please reinstate it with further citations, as that would be of general interest. Thanks. -- KenBailey (talk) 21:55, 31 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
