License tagging for Image:Alan morrison organist.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Alan morrison organist.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 23:06, 17 March 2007 (UTC)

Organists, photos and Joseph Flummerfelt edit

Hi there - I noticed you had added a couple of photos of organists to articles about them, so I thought I'd mention the Wikipedia Pipe Organ Project, in case it was something that you might be interested in joining. Have a look if you get a moment. If you're not interested, then sorry to bother you.

Incidentally, whilst I don't know much about using images on Wikipedia, I do know that "the powers that be" are quite strict about copyright matters, and can get a bit heavy with editors who fall foul of policy: the Alan Morrison photo that you've added to his article, for example, seems to have come straight from a website that says on the front page "Copyright 2007. Alan Morrison. All rights reserved", so (unless you have specific permission to use it here) you'll need to check very carefully whether any of the exceptions to copyright apply to allow you to use it on Wikipedia. See the pages WP:COPY and WP:FAIR for the technical details.

I've also had a look at Joseph Flummerfelt and taken off the speedy delete tag, as it doesn't apply any longer. I've made some other Wiki-type changes, to hold the position for now, and would be delighted to help you improve the page in a way that won't attract the wrath of administrators! Let me know if I can help, and I'll do what I can! Oh, and by the way, welcome to Wikipedia!. Best wishes, Bencherlite 00:54, 18 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Image tagging for Image:Dioceseofpittsburgh.png edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Dioceseofpittsburgh.png. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

File copyright problem with File:Bishop duncan.jpg edit

Thank you for uploading File:Bishop duncan.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Kelly hi! 19:18, 22 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

File source problem with File:Westminster shield.png edit

Thank you for uploading File:Westminster shield.png. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of that website's terms of use of its content. However, if the copyright holder is a party unaffiliated from the website's publisher, that copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider verifying that you have specified sources for those files as well. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged per Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion, F4. If the image is copyrighted and non-free, the image will be deleted 48 hours after 23:16, 9 March 2011 (UTC) per speedy deletion criterion F7. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. B (talk) 23:16, 9 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference edit

Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have enabled.

On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being 'minor'. The only thing that's changed is that you will no longer be able to have them marked as minor by default. For more information on what a minor edit is, see WP:MINOR or feel to get in touch.

Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 21:48, 13 March 2011 (UTC)Reply
