Speedy deletion nomination of Adriana Rebold

edit

A tag has been placed on Adriana Rebold requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. File source problem with File:Adriana Rebold.jpg

edit

File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Adriana Rebold.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 22:13, 13 August 2009 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Irbisgreif (talk) 22:13, 13 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Articles for deletion nomination of Adriana Rebold

edit

I have nominated Adriana Rebold, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Adriana Rebold. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Please contact me if you're unsure why you received this message. Irbisgreif (talk) 23:46, 13 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

This is the second time I have attempted to create this page, please explain why it gets or would get deleted, so that I can properly provide the information that you need. Adriana's name is already linked on several pages of the artist that she works with.

Thank you,

From Talk:Adriana_Rebold

I have moved the following sections over from Talk:Adriana_Rebold - help requests should be dealt with here, on your own talk page, not on the article talk page.  Chzz  ►  07:05, 14 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

As reviewing administrator, I think it claimed notability , so it cannot be speedied. But it is necessary not just to claim notability, but to show it, and the way it is shown is by references providing substantial coverage from 3rd party independent published reliable sources, print or online, but not blogs or press releases, or material derived from press releases. Add them, and it will hold up. Please in addition read WP:BIO and see our guide to writing Wikipedia articles. I advise you to do get these references in very quickly, before the article gets nominated for deletion by a regular deletion process. DGG ( talk ) 23:34, 13 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

What do you mean by 3rd party, sorry new at this..thought that the credits provided for her work were sufficient. Thank you, —Preceding unsigned comment added by Tativ79 (talkcontribs) 22:22, 13 August 2009

Third-party sources refer to reliable, verifiable sources that are published by a third party unaffiliated to the subject they are writing about. For example, the New York Times writing about itself would not be third-party; if the New York Times wrote about the death of Michael Jackson, that would be a third-party source. I'm not saying that the New York Times has to have written about Ms. Rebold, but it would be ideal if you could find sources from newspapers or magazines that are not affiliated with her. Cheers, Master of Puppets - Call me MoP! :D 00:20, 14 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Ms. Rebold has been published on Latin Maganizes, can you hold off on deletion until I can locate the article online?

There are five days for the deletion to be discussed by the community; in that time, you can look for the source and keep working on the article. You may also participate in the deletion discussion. Cheers, Master of Puppets - Call me MoP! :D 00:26, 14 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

How do I participate in that discussion? sorry for so many ?'s very new at this Wiki stuff! Thank You!

Just add a new line, like this: *Keep or *Delete, followed by rationale; that she is notable due to her multiple music or movie appearances, etc. I'm assuming you'll go with the Keep option. Master of Puppets - Call me MoP! :D 00:32, 14 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Also does the fact that her name appears on CD and movie credits count?

Well, if you've got any sources for that, it does, but it doesn't exactly solidify her article's spot unless they're under a notable record label, well-documented, and not minor roles. Master of Puppets - Call me MoP! :D 00:32, 14 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
I want you to know that if the article gets improved and some sources come in showing that she is notable, I'll happily withdraw my deletion nomination and try to help the article. Irbisgreif (talk) 02:20, 14 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

thanks! i have asked her to send me information on the magazine article where she is mentioned. as for the record labels, she works exclusively with Sony (Latin Division) Disney, Universal, Univision (also Latin)a few others as well. would it help to add her name to those wiki pages to reflect that? basically the proof of that are on CD credits and such would are available via a website link..but i believe reading somewhere on wike that websites link don't count? making this more difficult for me. :( {{helpme}}

Could you possibly click on this and chat to us? Might be easiest. If not, then I will respond here shortly. But please try it. Thanks,  Chzz  ►  07:01, 14 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
Ok, as you haven't appeared online, I shall try to answer you here.
Firstly, a question: are you connected to the subject in some way, in business, or whatever? If not, skip this part. If so, then you have a conflict of interest, and thus it is very difficult to write a neutral, acceptable article. If this is the case, then we strongly recommend that you do not create the article. There are options available to create an appropriately sourced article in your user area, and then request that it is created. Please read this essay on best practice, and the business FAQ
Next - notability. In order to have an article on Wikipedia, the subject must meet the notability guidelines. The simplest, most important one is the general notability guideline, which says a subject needs significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject. That carefully-worded phrase explains quite a lot;
"Significant coverage" - such as, a number of news articles about the article topic - not passing mentions
Reliable sources - well, this is defined in some detail in WP:RS, but the essence of it is - something that is generally trusted - such as the BBC, CNN, The New York Times. Books are good, too. Blog-sites are rarely reliable.
Independent - we don't use primary sources, such as the persons own website, or their publishers/labels website, or anything like that. We avoid press-releases. We want secondary coverage - other people independently writing about the subject.
In the case of this article, looking on the internet, I am unable to find any appropriate sources, and therefore I think it will be difficult to establish notability. I'm sorry. I do understand your point, that the person has produced all this widely-used artwork, but unfortunately proof that the art exists is not enough. We would need to see coverage of the artist - articles about them, not about some album-cover that they made.
There is another important point to note here though, and that is, you can work on articles in your own user space. I have just copied the article to user:Tativ79/Adriana Rebold. That can stay there forever; it is not in the live area. You can edit it, improve it, ask for help with it, etc. If, eventually, you are able to add suitable references (as I have described), then it could be copied back to the 'live' area.
I suggest that you consider working on some other existing articles - perhaps something of interest.
I hope that you will continue to work on WIkipedia, and I assure you that I will help in any way I can. For more help, you can either;
  • Leave a message on my own talk page; OR
  • Use a {{helpme}} - please create a new section at the end of your own talk page, put {{helpme}}, and ask your question - remember to 'sign' your name by putting ~~~~ at the end; OR
  • Talk to us live, with this or this.
Best wishes,  Chzz  ►  08:25, 14 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

thank you for being so helpful. i have no relationship with her, other than being in a similar industry and admire her work. i work with latin performers as well...and hear of her often among them as she is behind every album for a huge portion of our latin entertainers.

i will continue working on this article and making it as notable as possible, mostly i am trying to locate the articles about adriana, i know they are available it's just a matter of remembering the published date, i contacted her for help with that. here are some links i have so far where you can see her work...hope this helps.. http://music.msn.com/music/artist-credits/adriana-rebold/?ipp=10 http://music.barnesandnoble.com/Artist/Adriana-Rebold/c/1104915

here are some links i have so far where you can see her work...does this help??? http://music.msn.com/music/artist-credits/adriana-rebold/?ipp=10 http://music.barnesandnoble.com/Artist/Adriana-Rebold/c/1104915

I'm sorry, but no, those two links do not help. They do not provide significant coverage, as described above - they are not articles about the subject of the proposed article.  Chzz  ►  22:42, 14 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
