Hi, that same discussion points out that there is no consensus to remove them nor are they deprecated. If so we would have removed them all with a bot. Their use is only deprecated for people who died before photography was widely available. -- Banjeboi 00:25, 16 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Totally disagree. It is clear from File:Replace this image male.svg that there is significant opposition to the placeholders. The images should not be added, especially in the case of Justin Fashanu. If you have a proposal that brings significant opposition, what it obviously isn't, is a green light to carry on adding placeholders. Swungnewly (talk) 09:43, 16 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
There exists no consensus to remove or forbid their use especially on biographies of people who were alive when photography was widely available as in this case. Your opposition would be strengthened if these did not work which is not the case - they do work and result in many image being donated through these placeholders. -- Banjeboi 02:08, 17 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
