Username

Hi there, just a quick note as you're probably unaware of the policy at WP:REALNAME. You're perfectly welcome to use your real name as your username, but you might want to send an email to info-en@wikimedia.org to confirm your identity so that you're not inadvertently blocked by an overzealous admin who thinks that you might be someone else impersonating Suzie Plakson. Writing your own article

edit

I just wanted to let you know that the reason people might be rewriting your article is not necessarily in order to make Star Trek more prominent, but because you're really not supposed to write the article about yourself. Checking it to make sure it doesn't become biased or inaccurate is encouraged, but actually writing significant portions yourself is generally considered a conflict of interest, as if you are doing it to advertize yourself.

It will probably eventually be rewritten again, if it hasn't been already. Hopefully, that one won't won't overly bias towards your Star Trek roles. But there is absolutely no way people will be contacting you to check, because that's not how an encyclopedia works.

Imagine if we contacted everyone every time we wrote something about them, and only wrote what they considered "respectful." We'd have nothing, and the articles would be slanted.

That said, you are correct that your Star Trek work should not be overemphasized, and I hope we can prevent that from happening in the future. — trlkly 10:47, 7 June 2015 (UTC)Reply
