Recent updates to Maqsudul Alam require references

edit

Hi Sunny.geb.sust, I've added a refimprove template to Maqsudul Alam, I noticed you recently added a lot of new material but it should be referenced, otherwise it is likely to be removed. Let me know if I can be of any assistance. Thanks, Amkilpatrick (talk) 12:27, 30 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hi I am new to Wikipedia. Learning it fast. I am trying to add reference in paragraphs but do not know how. Please advice. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sunny.geb.sust (talkcontribs) 12:34, 30 June 2017 (UTC)Reply
No problem! Help:Referencing for beginners with citation templates is a good way to start (citing journals is slightly different). An easier way is (if you're using the regular editor) to click the 'cite' menu, then 'templates', then 'cite web'. Then if you paste the URL and click the magnifying glass, it should fill in the reference automatically. The process for journals ('cite journal') is the same, but uses DOI numbers. Hope that helps. PS, I pasted your reply back here (and used ':' to indent), so that all of this thread is in the same place. All the best, Amkilpatrick (talk) 12:46, 30 June 2017 (UTC)Reply
Ok. Thanks. I will add the references soon. :)
Hello again. Should I talk in this page or in my page where you left the messages? How to I cite a single reference to multiple paragraphs? Thanks.
It's best to reply here, so all the messages are together. To use the same reference in multiple paragraphs, you'll need to name the reference, so the first time, instead of <ref>, you'll need to write <ref name="put_your_name_here">. Then to reuse that reference, type <ref name="put_your_name_here" /> (with the space and slash). Wikipedia:Naming references for beginners has more details. Looks like you're getting there though :) Best, Amkilpatrick (talk) 13:04, 30 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hi i don't understand. My edit is gone. I added the reference correctly I suppose.

I see Sphilbrick noted copyright and reference issues. But the nature link was used to reference data. Sunny.geb.sust (talk) 13:39, 30 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:

  1. Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment; or
  2. With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button (  or  ) located above the edit window.

This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 13:32, 30 June 2017 (UTC)Reply
